Landpride, Kubota implements? Quality vs Price

I don't know if they have a cheap (lower quality) and a good (higher quality) in the same implement but they do have good and I think their prices are reasonable.

Landpride (and Woods and Bush Hog) have light, medium, and heavy duty implements in many of their lines. I'm sure the medium and heavy duty ones will hold up better in strenuous use than the light duty. It all depends on how you need to use it and if you have the tractor to put it to use. A 20 hp tractor won't punish an implement like a 50 hp tractor will. Mowing a meadow is different than mowing trails through the woods or reclaiming overgrown land.

When I got my first tractor and rotary cutter, a friend told me that I could cut anything I could drive the tractor over. He was wrong: there are times that I will back over things to cut that I wouldn't drive the tractor over first! That's with a 6' Woods medium duty cutter. I wouldn't expect something from TSC to hold up like that, nor would I expect a light duty Woods or Landpride to hold up as well either.

If I was starting out and had the money, I'd get it from the dealer and finance it all together. I've pieced my stuff together over the years, and have gone with lower cost equipment that I paid for outright. I've had my KK finish mower for 12 yrs now, bought from the old Quality Farm & Fleet, and it is still going, but I have abused it a bit, like mowing weeds and pasture and sticks when I should have put on the rotory. Also I have a Rotory Mower from TSC that I've mowed everything that I could run over, like locust trees.

In my experience I have regretted it whenever I have bought the off brands - of most things for that matter - but in this case implements. You get what you pay for.

I have a Woods BB60 rotary cutter, HD72 box blade. They are rock solid - as I am sure are Landpride, Bushhog etc.

I bought a Kodiak rake and it has cost me more in time than I wanted. I didn't think I had that much use for a rake but it does get used quite a bit. In hindsight, if I had to do it again, I'd buy a heavy duty woods or land pride rake.

My Walco Meteor snowblower has done me fine though.

My 0.02 $ would be to spend the money on quality equipment.

My brother used to ask me about choice of tools. Since he didn't use them I told him it didn't matter, cheap was OK. He helped me build my house and them helped build his own and also now doing other projects. Now when he asks I tell him it depends on whether he's going to use it or just hang it. If your going to use it, buy a good one. If it's just for looks, get the cheapest one.

I guess I'll add my 2 cents- I have a 4' TSC backblade and wished it was a 5 ft for snow. It works good, but I had to hang all of my chains I got on the backblade for for downpressure. I am sure if you bought a better quality you wont need the chains for extra weight. I am afriad of bending the frame for the backblade since it looks pretty thin to me so I take it easy in dirt and no worries in snow. I have the bushhog tiller for mostly garden uses that I love. It seems pretty well built so I would include them in your search.

I'll speak on the tiller... The TSC King Kutter tillers are good tillers and as good as the Landpride tillers. The King Kutter BB, rotary cutters and rear blades, not so much so, but since this is going on a BX, I think the TSC stuff would work just fine and you would have less to finance.

I think the work you plan on doing should be more the determining factor than what tractor it's going to go on. A BX could mangle a cheap blade if it hits a bunch of rocks or is worked in hard dry clay. Where you at when we need you Lbrown? Tell them how 2 BX1500's can do anything a B or L model can do!:)

like most things, depends implement by implement. By accounts the King Kutter tiller is better than my woods (I'm not that happy with my woods tiller). But my woods bush hog has exceeded my expectations.

I'd think the TSC stuff would stand up better to a bx, but there are still design flaws in some pieces (the **** rake) that would be a problem with any tractor
