LandPride 8' rotary cutter review

   / LandPride 8' rotary cutter review #21
Finally got to try out my 8' twin cutter today, I was very pleased, made a Hugh difference time wise over the six footer. Really make a nice cut too, I just need to adjust the cutting hight a bit, I have it set a bit to low for my liking.

How did the tractor do running the cutter, any problems with not enough power?

Handled it great. The only time it didn't was when I found a rock about the size of a wheel weight.. Made quite the racket and took a big chunk out of the rock...

Used M range turtle most of the time, popped up to rabbit a few times and couldn't really tell a difference.

Handled just fine but I was going slow because it was so tall I couldn't see where I was going.

100 degrees out and temp only went up one bar from half way (normal operating temp). I have a digital dash do I can monitor PTO rpm to the digit. Most of the time it would bounce between 530-540. Every now and then it would drop into the 520s but that's only like 100 engine rpms. My 540 is at 2600 rpm so it would hit 2500 cactus brought it down most of the time and I cut several stalks that were 1+".

This thread made me look closer at Landpride 8ft mowers.

At tractorhouse, I see RCR2596 mowers with different tail wheel setups. Anyone know what those differences are?

AND...we have the RCF3096 and also the RCF3010. All these different variations are they just light duty, medium duty, heavy duty...or what?

I've used a Rhino SE8A, so I know how it mows, and what it will mow over. I've read it is a light duty mower. I've also read it is a medium duty mower. Seems to be a lot of blurring of these mowers. How would you compare the SE8A to Landpride and to which Landpride model?

I think it would compare to the RCR3596 medium duty

The 3pt only comes with laminated tires (solid strips of material forming a wheel that can't go flat). The pull type has the option of laminated or aircraft tires. The aircraft hood air. Difference in performance? Idonno. I have too much mesquite and cactus so laminated for me.

The rcf 3010 is a 10', not an 8'. I don't really know about the differences between the RCR and RCF. RCR can cut up to 1 1/2 and I think the RCF can do 2 1/2. You'd need to look at blade width, gearbox ratings and deck thickness to compare more.

I got the RCR because it's what showed up on Craigslist and 8' doesn't come up that much let alone a Landpride around here.

Also I wanted the chain guards.

Ahhhh.....another model number.

By looking at LandPride web site looks like the RCR2596 will be the closest on gearbox size100/60hp(Rhino is 100/70)didnt see the 3596 as an option anymore and the RCF3096 being big jump to 160/110hp but they consider it as medium duty.

Yes, what comes available will have something to dictate on what I get. I may be able to buy the Rhino SE8A that I used. It seemed like a decent mower. I've made another mowing deal with the owner to mow part of his place in exchange for the mower use, so I'll be using again this fall. The fiber clutches are deteriorating, but that's an easy fix.

You guys with a Landpride, how do you change the gearbox oil?

It looks like the two spindle gearboxes have drain plugs but no where to get a catch pan in there..l what a mess...

Looks like the center box doesn't have a drain....

Suction hose the best way?
