Well, the Germans took over the Mini and for probably the first time in history the British make (sorry assemble) a car that is thick on the ground. Ford takes over Land Rover and the other threads tell the story.

I've only driven 4x4's since 1967, from a 52, jeep, Power wagon, Land cruiser, Jimmy,Sierra 4x4, Range rover, Excursion, Expedition, GMC stake bodies, Suzuki's, Jeep Rubicon, etc. etc. etc.
I abuse my four wheel drives, that's how I rate them. This Hummer took everything I could throw at it,and begged for more.
I had it in snow over the headlights and it didn't even phase it, climbed like a billy goat, went through mud like a pig, and floated over sand like a camel, and could pull a freight train.
Of course the 5 miles per gallon was miserable.

Have you never seen what landrover 90's and 110's ,defenders do with a few mods...**** sure that one spare wheel you have there would be touching the ground with a landrover ,Range rover is not a comparison .Kendall69 said:I had a range Rover and it couldn't do this - that's why I bought a Hummer.
