Just wanted to make a quick post after my first experience with my new Land Pride 1672 rear discharge 6 foot finish mower. WOW what a nice cut!!! I cut about 7 acres with it yesterday and I cannot believe the cut quality. It cuts as nice as my dad's murray lawn tractor. I am using it with my TC29D. I did notice one thing. I was mowing grass that was very high, and this mower does require more HP than a 6ft rotary cutter. When going up steep hills in the tall grass, it does tax the tractor. (Loss in several RPM's). But again, the grass has not been mowed in over 3 weeks so it was VERY high. Just curious but for those who are using this mower, what do you recommend for deck height that will give best performance plus a nice cut? It came set up with only 2 shims under the brace (I think this means it cuts the grass 2"). Thanks!!

The height that you should cut your grass really depends on what species of grass that you are cutting. You might want to check with you local agricultural extension agent for advice. Down South we cut our running grasses such as Centipede, Bermuda, Zosia, etc. pretty short to get it to send out runners to fill in bare spots. I only have one spacer or shim under my deck.

Hi I have an FDR 1560 that Ive used for a couple seasons. Until a few weeks ago I had never used it for cutting anything really tall. However, I cut my neighbors very overgrown paddock and set the mower all the way up for the first cut. I then came back in a couple weeks and set it down an inch for the final cut which turned out pretty clean. However, I think itll take another 2 or 3 to get it back to 'lawn' quality.

Yes, the metal shims are used to set the cut height. I got 4 1 inch shims and a 1/2" shim. To get a grass height of 2" you put 2 1 inch shims between the wheel and brace.

I just bought a FDR2560 today that will be delivered on Tuesday. Glad to hear you like yours so much. looking forward to cutting the grass with the new mower.
