Box Scraper Land Pride GS1572 vs GS2572 on a Kubota MX5200

Hi all. I'm buying my first tractor (a Kubota MX5200) and my first grading scraper. In short, I've got 2 options at present: a Land Pride GS1572 (GS15 Series Grading Scrapers | Land Pride) and a Land Pride GS2572 (GS25 Series Grading Scrapers | Land Pride). I've got about 2000 feet of (currently pretty compacted and rutted out) gravel driveway to maintain.

From where I sit, the core difference between the 2 grading scrapers are:
- 200 lbs
- 1 additional scarifier shank
- a few hundred dollars

I'd spring for the GS2572, but it's on backorder for 2 months... and the GS1572 is available today.

In short, do you guys think I should way for the GS2572, or will the difference be negligible on a ~50hp machine like the Kubota MX5200? I'd love to get my embarrassment of a driveway fixed up sooner than later, but not as much as I'd like to get the right lifetime tool for the job.

How about a GS2584? Either way, get a 25 series if you want to stay with Land Pride. Weight is your friend. :thumbsup:

I find my 1572 plenty heavy enough. But don't make the mistake I did and get one too wide! I am finally realizing that in most places my drive is 10ft wide, not 12. It's important that the center-of-the-road skid ride ON the center of the road. Else you risk cutting down the crown.

Anyone around middle TN want to buy a very slightly used GS1572? Or trade for a GS1560?

This is very common. It seems that all the LPGS work pretty good. But if a person was to be able to use both on the same surface, most would find that the heavier unit worked better. Almost like saying that a 600lb box blade works, which it does, but a 900-1000lb+ unit works better. :thumbsup:

I just brought home a GS1560 this week. Before choosing I went and measured the width of my driveway at both narrow and wider parts. Usually right about 10ft wide, with some areas on turns being 12ft.

On the wider sections i plan to have a skid at the outer edge of the road for one pass, then come back over it with inner skid on center.
