All,

My official second post!

I'm looking for a set of low-lift blades for my Land Pride FDR1660. It came with regular medium lift blades and after a few months of mowing, the blades resemble little blunt sticks of thin metal due to being sand blasted. I have very, very sandy soil on my place, and the low lift blades should allow me to cut grass...or weeds...without sucking up so much sand.

I checked with my local Land Pride dealer and they said I would have to special order the blades for $39.40 each... After I got over the shock ($40 for a mower blade???), I realized that Land Pride must make these things from titanium or some metal from space. That being the case, I rationalized that might not be a bad price.

Anyway, was wondering if any of you Land Pride owners used "non Land Pride" blades on your mowers (despite the dire warnings in the instruction manual), and if so, where did you get them from? Also, if anyone has ideas or actually knows why the Land Pride blades are so expensive, I'd appreciate being schooled.

Thanks!

This place Land Pride Grooming Mower parts has regular ones for 22 each and says they can get high and low lift also.
Have same deck so guess I will start looking also. Just ordered a belt off ebay for less than $20 dollars we will see how it lasts compared to the $77 one.

Ok...I was mistaken about the cost from the local dealer. The $39 was for the set. Since they could drop ship them to me, I went ahead and ordered a set. Hopefully, they'll last longer than the regular lift blades.

Thanks for the info!

I do hope your low lift blades last longer. I swapped out medium lifts for low lifts, I call them sand blades, on a 1672 and I didn't see much improvement in wear or difference in cut. The high lift blades wore out even faster and they rob hp. Let us know how yours work out.
