It has the black cover on rear but front is open. Should it have at least chains on the front to keep debris from flying out? I bought it new. Thanks

Thanks was looking on land pride web site and where it says buyer must choose chains or rubber for front guess that means customer must buy have to go search for price for front chain price

Mine came open in front as well. Too much stuff coming forward for my liking, so I added chains to the front. Much better. Then I found that heavy sometimes wet grass was balling up inside of cutter and coming out in big globs and I could hear the cutter laboring more. I took off the solid steel guard and replaced it with chains. Much better.
I have used a 60" LP on a smaller tractor and the rear chains didn't seem to be necessary. I also noticed it to be easier for the drive line to hit the deck on the 72" mower. Just have to be more careful on rough land and ditches.
I also don't have rocks on the properties I mow.

So u had chains on both ends ? Did I look at price about 150 for the whole chain assembly for 72 in or did I look at wrong thing. thanks

I put chains on the front and rear of my RCR2672, works much better than rubber.

I paid about $150 for the front and $200 for the rear. One time purchase I figured.

First cutter I had a new one built after destroying the oringinal. Second mower I beefed it up before I used it, no problems. The flat bars that extend down to axel bend.

I have a 2072 with rubber in front and solid in rear. Before this I had an 1860 with chains front and rear on a smaller tractor. They're more expensive, but I prefer chains. My current 2072 came standard with the rubber, and I don't use it often enough to justify the expense of the chains.
