Land plane

I am looking for design plans for a land plane for use with my sub compact JD 2305. Can anyone give me some ideas?

These aren't building plans, but you can build from them.

I built mine but it's 7 x 7. A bit large for your machine.

Here are the plans I made for one I built in 2010. I pull it with a 30 hp L3010. It is plenty for that tractor especially on the hills. You might want to scale it to your tractor width - I would not make it any wider than necessary. The with dimension is inside. Make it a little wider than the cutting edges you plan to use. It's just an example that you can change and simplify. The hitch dimensions are for Cat 1 3ph BUT are NOT quick hitch compatible. Not shown on the drawing but the sides are 12" high. If you put cross members/spreaders across the top like most have try not to put them over the blades. They can/will imped the flow of material. Material will build up going over the blades.

They are simple things - most anything will work well if it is heavy enough. Shoot for more than 100 lbs per foot of width. My 5 footer weighs 650 lbs

I like your rear gate. I need to add one to mine just wasn't sure at the time how I wanted to do it. I mounted my blades at opposing angles instead of straight.

I have a set of pins that the bottom of the gate hits against. If I swing the gate up and over so it hangs behind the pins it acts as a drag going forward or in reverse as a blade so I can push stuff off the road.

If I hang the gate in front of the pins I can use the grader to collect and move material like a box blade.

Even with the gate hanging behind the pins it is heavy enough to collect sod which I can then push aside like above.

I'm pretty sure that I remember some pictures that you posted of that. It makes for a very nice and versatile unit.

I was thinking of a cylinder for mine but you lose the ability to have it float unless you make some sort of linkage for it. I love your idea of a 358 degree gate so you can use it for multiple purposes. What's your gap from the bottom of the gate to ground surface?

Very nice build. I like the idea of the swing gate. If you installed some ripper teeth at the front and had the rear plate flipped so it would hold material it would works pretty decent as a box blade also.
