L6060 Hard Starting In Cold Weather

That leak appears to me to likely be an excess fuel return to tank line.
Could be as simple as bad hoses or it could be an injector going out and dumping to much fuel.

The Basic Warranty has expired, however there is still engine and emission warranty coverage. From what I can see the GP's are not covered in the existing warranties and I doubt the block heater is either. I hope the injectors are though. I will find out tomorrow when I call the dealer. If it is simply the GP's, I'm pretty sure that I can handle that replacement and save the cost of them picking up the tractor plus the expensive labor costs.
Different brand and machine but the injectors on the last case trackloader I owned were covered under the emissions warranty.

You may wish have a different or new thermostat installed in the coolant system.

I sent the picture in to the dealer and called this morning but he was on the phone. I left a message for him to call me to discuss the injector and hard starting issues. I think the injectors are covered under the emissions warranty but will get him to confirm.

Just as a note of interest, my SIL just bought a new Kubota SSV65 skidsteer and I was at his place the other day when he started it. It started easily and ran smoothly within a few seconds of startup. His SS may even have the same engine as my tractor but it sure starts a lot different.

I don't think a new thermostat would help with the hard starting problem. Unless I am missing something. The tractor does get up to operating temperature and the cab does heat up. Which suggests to me the thermostat is not stuck open. It just takes time for the cab to heat up.

Good news....... sort of. The service manager tells me that it appears to a leak in the body of the injector and that will cause the symptoms I am experiencing because the fuel system is loosing it's prime, as someone else has already stated. They are going to send someone out next week to fix it and it IS covered under the emissions warranty. He also said it is ok to operate as is. I am still going to put into the heated shop to see if it starts any easier when it is warm. I could also check the resistance of the GP's and see if they are getting proper voltage.

UPDATE.

The dealers part guy sent me a service memo that states the glow plug relay on certain serial numbers of the GL series had a known issue with the relays in very cold weather. Apparently the relay could get moisture in it and then freeze, making it no functional. According to the serial numbers he gave me, my tractor is a newer one and should not have that problem. I haven't checked to see if has the newer relay but I can tell you that after moving the tractor to my heated shop, it started very easily the next moring and now starts easier in cold weather. Mind you, it has not got down to -35*C either.

The injector issue is another story. The service guy ordered a new return line assembly over a week ago and it still has not arrived at the dealers. Could be another few days plus the weekend. The snow around here has been piling up and I NEED my tractor to deal with it. After taking the leaking return line off and fooling around with it, I could see a small blemish on the o-ring at the base of the Tee fitting. I didn't think that was bad enough to cause the leak but it was. I measured the 0-ring dimensions and thought I would have a match in one of the large 0-ring kits I have in my shop but no such luck. I phoned all over the local town and the big City closest to us and could not find anyone that had an 0-ring that small. One outfit said he has something close. I needed one that was 6.0 mm OD and 1.2 mm thick. He had one that was 6 mm OD but 1.4 mm thick. I drove 3 hrs to get this o-ring because I was desperate. I needed to get my driveway blown. I installed it but it did not seat properly into the injector. I tried forcing it but no luck. I then tried gently increasing pressure on it while wiggling it and it then popped into place. I was ecstatic. 🥳 Ran the tractor for a bit an no leak. So last night I was out blowing snow to open up the driveway. Today I will deal with all the snow around the buildings. In some places the snow is over my knees.

Glad you got it working Would you post the service memo?

did not see this mentioned and is over looked usually how is your battery low battery can cause problems, You think the cold is making it turn over slow which it will but low voltage from a battery will cause a lot of things not to work well
