Congratulations, Jay! That's a beautiful rig. Just watch out for that gorgeous cab when you head into the trees. It's much too pretty to scratch up. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

After a couple of hundred hours, I hope you'll give us some feedback on how you feel going up to a much larger rig. I just have a hard time thinking it will ever really feel "compact." But heck, having that extra power and comfort will probably make up for any size discomfort. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks Jim. I actually agonized over transferring "loyalties," as my NH dealer was so, so good. However, in the end, having a cab outweighed my other concerns.

Your point about the size is well taken. As it stands, the L5030 is actually about the same height as the ROPS on my TC40D, but I used to duck a lot under branches and let them slide around the ROPS. To accomodate the L5030, I'm going to prune a number of the lower lying branches so that I don't have to worry about them whacking the cab or glass. Other than that, I've learned to watch the side mirrors, but those can also easily be pulled in. They have detents, just like regular car/truck mirrors, so popping them back into place is also simple.

My biggest adjustment, though, involves the view of the bucket. I've attached two pics below, that give you an idea of the difference, looking forward. This is where the curved hood and loader arms were really an advantage, as it's difficult to guage the exact location of the LA853 bucket without trying to look from a slightly sideways angle:

I wonder how many "converts" Kubota has because of exactly what you mentioned. I'd only owned the blue and green tractors until I decided that I just had to have a cab. At the time neither of those other colored tractors came with a factory cab and A/C. I've since put almost 500 hours on cab Kubota tractors. As you mentioned, there is some reduced visibility, but I deem it well worth the drawback for the rest of the package. The cab is top notch and the loader is rather powerful. My other big shock came in going to an HST tractor. I was totally convinced that a shuttle shift was all I'd ever need, but the dealer only had hydro in the L5030 cab models. I'd have to had waited months for the other transmission. So, I reluctantly went hydro. Duh! After using a hydro transmission for about the last 500 hours, I don't think I can go back.

Any posts in the past I made regarding my preference for gear tractors can be used to show me that I was not open minded. I'm still not keen on the single pedal when going over rough ground, but I've gotten rather used to using the cruise control quite a bit. I really like the way the cruise works on this tractor. Good luck!!

The cab was what got me looking at Kubota a few years ago. They were the "only game in town" I would never go back to my main tractor not having a cab.
