Can anyone help me decide between a M4900/5700 and a L5030? What should the price difference be? I'm getting a FEL and 6 ft HD shredder, 7 ft disk, & boxblade. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The L5030 has a HST transmission the others do not. That is where I stopped comparing. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The L5030 is a compact where as the M's are almost ag tractors. For your $ you will get a bigger tractor in the M series. Take a look at the MX5000 too, it's a bargain model.

I have a new L4310 HST with R4's that I will sell near cost if your interested. Its old stock and has been replaced by the 30 series. major difference is that the 10's have more HP in the PTO and less in the hydrolics. If your interested let me know.

ljayc - if you have really narrowed your interest to the L5030 and the M4900/M5700, then I would suggest trying out all three. Go to more than one dealer if you have to. Of the three, the M5700 is the most tractor - but may be available at similar money to the L5030 with HST.

The R1's on the M5700 are big and the tractor sits high - you may like it, you may not. Depends on your place and what kinds of work you'll be doing. That's why it's important to drive them and use the loaders a bit. Maybe think about it a few weeks and go drive them again. If you have never used an HST, it may take a little time to decide if you like it - and if it's cost is justified in your judgement.

The hunt is a big piece of the fun of getting a tractor. Don't rush it - good dealers know it takes time to decide. All three of your candidates are capable of handling the attachments you listed. If you are thinking of a haybine or corn chopper sometime, the M5700 would be better. If you'll be using a finish mower on your home lot, the L5030 might be a little more civilized. I don't think I've helped much. Take care, Dick B

Before anyone can give good advice they normally like to know what the job is that they are going to be doing. How much lawn, fields, woods or what ever is there to be done? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think the 5030 and M4900 should be very close in price. The M5700 should be about $1,500.00 more.
