L5030 T& not so Tilt?

Jeff,

What cylinder seems to be leaking down? Is it the top link cylinder or the side tilt cylinder? Both?
If only one cylinder seems to be leaking down try swapping the hookup at the tractor remotes. If it's the control valve the symptom should move to the other cylinder. If the problem cylinder continues to leak down it would indicate to me that it's the cylinder and not the valve. If the cylinders are only 3-4 weeks old your dealer should be able to help you remedy the problem. First, try to verify if it's the cylinder or the control valve.

I just had my 5030 return from the dealer after having leak down problems. I'd have to constantly adjust the cylinders or I'd have one side of my bush hog 5" lower than the other. Although it took them two weeks to fix it, I learned much about it.
First, do you have the quick coupler releases where your T&T attach? If so, Kubota says that it is normal for it to leak down up to 3/4" an hour. If your T&T is set up direct, you should only lose about 1/4" an hour. I have the quick release, and mine was leaking over an inch in 3 minutes.
It turned out that I had a blown seal in one of my front loader cylinders. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I'd been moving the FEL constantly to either move stuff, or to see under or over it, so I hadn't noticed it leaking down. Needless to say, that isn't the first place the dealer looked when I'd complained about the T&T leaking down. I still don't know how it made such a difference, but after they replaced the one cylinder on the FEL, I quit having problems with the T&T. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Do you have leak down problems with your FEL? Kubota does have specific allowable leak down tolerances for each, and your dealer can get them from Kubota.
As others have described, if you only have one cylinder leaking, it could be that cylinder. However, it was explained to me that the tilt cylinder almost always has more pull on it with most implements than the top cylinder. That means that you'll notice the tilt leaking faster than the top even if the problem is elsewhere. Either way, your dealer should be able to find the problem. Mine apparently had them confused and looking in the wrong place, but with the factory's help, they found the problem when testing everything in the hydro system. Good luck!

Thanks guys. I'll take this mail to the Dealer.

Seems to be just the side / tilt cylinder. I haven't noticed any leak down anywhere but the tilt ... and it is severe. At least 3 inches per hour with the tractor on and running the whole time.

Dargo, I do have the quick attach.

Good idea Glen. I'll try swapping some hoses.

I've only used it with the box blade thus far. But it sure is annoying.

I thought my old tilt cylinder leaking down 1/2" per hour was annoying, and that was with a $35 tie rod cylinder made to fit.
3" per hours makes the tilt cylinder pretty much useless..
Since I added my CCM/check valve cylinders I can leave the 3 point up with the boxblade on all week with 0 leakdown..
