gray:
Last fall, I used the 5030 to clear a lot for a friend prior to his building a house. I really beat on it, pulling stumps (bent my back blade frame), ripping brush and small trees with the FEL and tooth bar. The only thing I hung up on the underside was the boot for the ram steering in the left front side. I pulled it back from the ram and had to re attach it to the spring clip.
I know the back case is strong. I chained the tractor to a stump, slackened the chain and in mid range ran until it got stopped by the chain. I actually lifted the rear wheels off the ground a few times. You got to hang on tight or you get whiplash. Other than breaking the door off (another story) the steering rubber was the only causality. Oh I forgot, I overshot a stump with the FEL and came up against the front guard and bent the lower cross piece. When I got home, I cut it out, and welded in a piece of channel iron. That precludes me from using the suitcase weights, but I never intended to use them anyway. I did paint the guard ROPS Grey instead of orange just to be different.
We bail wheat straw and stubble fields are usually at least a foot high. Needless to say, with the abrasive characteristics of wheat straw, the underside of the 5030 is polished and minus quite a bit of paint.
