L48TLB & L Series

Last fall, I used the 5030 to clear a lot for a friend prior to his building a house. I really beat on it, pulling stumps (bent my back blade frame), ripping brush and small trees with the FEL and tooth bar. The only thing I hung up on the underside was the boot for the ram steering in the left front side. I pulled it back from the ram and had to re attach it to the spring clip.

I know the back case is strong. I chained the tractor to a stump, slackened the chain and in mid range ran until it got stopped by the chain. I actually lifted the rear wheels off the ground a few times. You got to hang on tight or you get whiplash. Other than breaking the door off (another story) the steering rubber was the only causality. Oh I forgot, I overshot a stump with the FEL and came up against the front guard and bent the lower cross piece. When I got home, I cut it out, and welded in a piece of channel iron. That precludes me from using the suitcase weights, but I never intended to use them anyway. I did paint the guard ROPS Grey instead of orange just to be different.

We bail wheat straw and stubble fields are usually at least a foot high. Needless to say, with the abrasive characteristics of wheat straw, the underside of the 5030 is polished and minus quite a bit of paint.

Hi Gray,

Check out my thread for the TC55DA in the New Holland Forum.

I agree that the L48 is second to no one. I liked how the seat could also be set at a 45 degree angle so it would be easier to see rear mounted implements. I did not even price the L48. I thought the salesman said the L48 was priced in the mid to high $30's - I hope that included the hoe /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif.
If so, it would be the way to go.

I did think that the TC55DA offered more pto power, hydraulic output, and loader capacity than the L5030.

Daryl and Dave,

I have bent my steering covers at least 6 times running up against small stumps and large clumps while clearing. I got one new one and found out that they are bolted with 2 top bolts but none on the bottom. They are drilled and tapped for it so I added them to each side? I became careful around some of the piles and stumps. Should be a lot tougher now that it is bolted. No other bends or dents. Just an observation I had to share.

I also checked and found the NH info I had was only up to the TC45 and they are 9.? gpm hydraulic flow. You must be right about the tc55 Dave. Does it have a heavier loader than the la17 offered on the other tc series NH?

As I said, I do like the sloped hood. 3 yrs ago, I tested a tc40d and liked alot about how it handled. I just didn't like the back hoe otions I was given. A good woods or Bradco might make that different today? None of them beat the rotational seat of the L48. Not getting off and on in a mess is a big plus for me.

I do little farm care things. A little brush cutting and some raking. May be doing more in the future but nothing like you , Daryl.

Dave, I saw on Carver's site a new L48 for 33900? Good price but shipping and service is a factor. Yes, that is with the BH. I payed more but got a nice trade in on my L35 and no worries about trasport. They are even fixing my steering cylinder now with them trasporting both ways, 420mi.

I did think the 5030 looked sweet. Just no experience on it.

The M6800 is a taller machine with larger wheels? Did it have a self leveling loader?

You might try finding out who the L5030 dealer is in Antigo for a price? Only thinking out loud.

The L48 will cost:
TLB $37,300
TL1705 Front hydraulics $975
Pallet Forks $695
72" brush Cutter $1106
73" 4in1 bucket $2,050

TOTAL $41,126

This tractor can opperate a grapple or a 4in1 at the same time as the backhoe - just choose.

Where did that price come from? If it was Service Motors, I will not share my quote with you , or you will hunt me down this weekend in GB.

It may pay to look at Carver Equipment. Even with shipping it would save thousands. If they are still selling them for about 34000 then add 900for remotes and 2000 for bucket and 1000 for cutter and 1000 shipping you have about 38900 plus tax and that is good for the works with a strong full featured back hoe to boot. If you add a back hoe of any size and quality to the TC55 , you will far exceed these numbers.

Still time to shop around a bit more. There are other dealers on this site that would sell one to you. I would not be affraid of dealing out of state if the price was right. They are dependable and even that cylinder change I am getting is something I could have done in a couple of hours if I had to.

Let me know what happens on your quest.

Hi Gray,

The quote is from D&B in Lena. I still need to check out Service Motors.

Dave.

I checked Carver's site last night and found a disclaimer about not selling Kubota over the internet due to dealer territories. They will still sell them but you have to make arangements and go there. Still may be worth it? I did not find the L48 TLB in their specials section as it was for at least 2 weeks. No other Kubota's were listed either. They do have a MSRP section to get an idea from.

Daryl, must have a cab on his L5030. That is nice. I wonder how a back hoe works with that sort of thing? I wonder what his take on the TC55 is?

I did look up the JD110 loader specs and this is how it breaks down.

Hieght at pin-9.6'
lift force at pin-2727#
full lift force-2042#
break out force-3965#

L48
Hieght at pin-9.6'
lift force at pin-3000#
full lift force-2260#
break out force-4375#

Dave, did you ever get prices on the JD110?

Hi Gray,

I inquired to the JD construction equipment dealer in DePere, but they never got back to me.

Does the JD construction equipment division also offer incentives and 0% financing? Kubota is pretty through in this area.

Dave,

I don't know what if any incentives JD is offering?

The dealer I was looking at the JD110 is an agricultural dealer, not a construction dealer.

On the L48, i also got a price from Michigan Sales and Equipment in Marquette. They were OK as well.

You may have to hold your nose and stop out at Service Motors? They also sell NH but I walked away from the brand.

Hope to see you in GB some time this coming week. Maybe we could raid a dealer?

Gray.
