Tractor
allis d 17/ case 930, 1370/ kubota L5740
Tractor has 600 hrs, no cab and is pretty clean no rear remotes. My question is what new tractor would this tractor have been replaced by. They are asking 21000 which is top much. Can get a new L 4600 with fel for a few thousand more. What would be a fair price?

I'm pretty sure the L4740 replaced the L4630. The L4600 is a nice tractor, and is part of the Standard L series. It will not have all the same "upgrades" that come standard on the Grand L, but that might not matter to you. To each his own :)

Tractor is at a jd dealership so they don't know much about kubota tractors. What features of the 4740 would be shared by this tractor. Local dealer only started selling kubota a few years back and could not tell me much about the 4630.

I am not nearly as familiar with the 30 series as the 40 series, but a friend of mine has the L4630 and loves it. It does everything he wants from it. The differences are few from what I can tell. The 4740 as a few more HP, and I believe there were some minor transmission changes that add or improve the stall guard and load sensing features. Other than that they look the same to me. I found a fly sheet on the 30 series that is attached, and you can compare the basic performance of the two at the links below. Someone around here with a 30 series will hopefully verify the accuracy of my comparison.

I think the 4630 is a great tractor.

Maybe this will help:TractorData.com Kubota L4630 tractor information

I looked at the GL40 Series tractors before buying our used GL5030 and the major difference between the two series is the HST+ transmission. The GL40 -3 also has a swivel seat and push button PTO as opposed to the lever type on earlier models including some GL40 Series.

The cabs are also different.

There may be other differences; just not sure.

The GL30 Series tractors are really nice tractors in my opinion, but as stated the price is too much.

EDIT: overlapped crazyangel's post.

What type of transmission does it have? I think somewhere around 2006 or 2007 Kubota switched from the L4630 to the L4740. Have you tried it out to see if you like it? I would start there and then worry about the price.

Forgot to say it is a hydro, the jd dealership that has it knows little about kubota and kubota dealer wants to sell one of there tractors. Just wanted to know more about tractor than a test drive on the lot before I started to try to deal. Have been looking at several different brands with kubota being one. I just want to make sure I am comparing like tractors
