We have a 2010's Kubota L45 that has a trans issue that has progressively gotten worse. We had issues with the HST peddle sticking or needing to be pressed in an exact way in order for the machine to be started. Had our local dealer basically rebuild the pedal, little springs inside and out of it, and some of the linkage that had rusted, etc. However, in addition to that we have noticed that the machine tends to lurch backwards, sometimes forward, although backwards seems to be most common when just sitting there at idle. If you leave it at idle in an open lot it will be on the other side of the lot in a few minutes. If the parking brake is on it will just strain to move against the parking brake. We have resorted to putting the machine in neutral when we aren't on it to avoid any accidents, etc. Also seems to be some hesitation to move forward when the peddle is pushed forward, like the peddle is out of adjustment.
Our local dealer mentioned that there are two solenoids on the exterior of the transmission, one for forward, one for reverse that at this point in time, salt, wear and tear, etc. probably are out or on their way out and recommended we start there by replacing them.
When it was in the shop for the peddle work, they noticed a leak from the center of the machine and determined that the tractor/case needs to be split and some seals replaced. Something that they need the machine for about 2-3 weeks for and about $3k+. Their other comment when we brought up the lurching forward/reverse issue is that maybe the leak is causing oil to splash on the clutch plate and other components and effecting the whole lurching issue. Although this doesn't seem to be the case, I figured it was worth mentioning. Machine has about 1400 hours on it. Relatively well maintained but has been used commercially in landscaping and snow removal so its seen its fair share of salt, mud, etc.
I'm leaning towards that solenoid being the problem but wanted to see what anyone else thought.
