My L4400 fuel guage stopped working a few months ago, no problem, I just open cap and look. I was waiting until Winter to trouble shoot it. I was using the PTO last week and I noticed I could start the engine with the PTO engaged... I was wondering if these problems were related..

I'm gonna follow this thread.... three and a half years ago I dropped my L4400 off at the local dealer for service. I had purchased this unit used from a private party. The fuel gauge didn't work. They put in a new sender and said good to go. It worked but not for any longer than six months. FF to now, I am taking it in. I am hoping they have an answer why it doesn't work. I was wondering if maybe I damage it when filling with a nozzle and hose assembly from my fueling station. It has bugged me since it quit. Maybe these L4400's have a fuel gauge gremlin. dunno but will report back in a week or so. BTW, I have about 450 hours on this machine and it has been every thing I wanted it to be. I have ag tires, ssqa, stick transmission. It has been a great purchase, after owning a 60's Massey and a 70's Kubota.

Updated L4400 fuel gauge was repaired. Dealer checked electrical and that was fine. They puilled the tank and found that the sending assembly in the tank was bent. Described to me as an empty ball on a a semi hard wire that floats some, gives the level in the tank. They bent it and checked it for freedom of movement and re installed tank. I hope it works for good.
