L4400 & L2800 Price difference

I sure like the L4400 but a L2800 will do all my work. Looking for HST, 4WD, & R4's, & FEL.
What is price difference?

I'm not up to speed on the current prices but check kubota's website and go to "build my kubota". You will be able to get MSRP prices. Depending on dealer and area prices I would "guess" a 4,000 to 5,000 price difference, maybe a bit more. If you have the room to maneuver the L4400 around I would get it for more power and larger lift capacities and such.

i do have space for the 4400, and down the road I will wish I had it.
The L3400 is 2000 more.
I also like that the 4400 has a 4 cylinder engine. But I reckon the 3 cylinders have a proven track record.

Lots of very dependable tractors have 3-cyl and some people prefer them.

I would be inclined to go with the size tractor you need and forgo the cost of an upgrade later, but that's just me.

At least I do have it narrowed down to these: L2800, L3400, L4400.
I even like them better than the Grand series. I could go with the 3400, as it is plenty enough for my work.
G. Lee did you get the HST with your 4400?

I was a gear man until I drove my first HST...

I guess it depends a bit on what you do most often but I would imagine for most compact tractor guys the HST is the way to go.

I would go with the largest unit that my budget could stand. I had a L2900 GST with a loader and backhoe, etc. And, it performed faithfully for 14 years. I knocked off a steel hydraulic line while mowing a field that I hadn't mowed for some years. I hit an old studded T post that was in the middle of the field for some reason. I don't remember putting it there! Anyway while I was in picking up the part at my dealer I noticed a L4400 4WD, HST, and looked at it, sat on it and made some engine noises. I should have know better. Anyway, I asked for a quote which was another mistake! I was all set to make the deal until I saw an MX5100 4WD, HST. I do considerable loader work and I thought why not try it. He brought it out with the loader and a heavy duty rollback bucket. I tried it and was hooked. I sold my faithful 2900 which was like losing an old friend, however, I needed the cash and the buyer paid what I was asking which usually means I didn't ask enough. Anyway, there is a learning curve to the HST, but once I figured it out the difference is astounding. I can move more dirt or whatever than I thought possible with a small tractor. If you can swing it go for the 4400. As Tim Allen always said, "more power". And, the larger the tractor the more weight which is also a factor. I don't think you can go wrong with a Kubota, they really hold their value.

Haggle with your dealer, he can give you a better price than that! Whether he will or not is another matter. Check with some other dealers in your area if you have them. I only paid a little more for the MX5100 4WD, HST, LA 844 loader, HD roundback bucket, R4 tires, Loader guide rod, rear work light. Unless you are paying sales tax which is included in the quote. Here in KY farm equipment is exempt from state sales tax.

Yes, I got HST. Makes operation alot easier depending on the task. I will add I previously had a B3200 and traded up to the L4400. I'm one of those that, in my opinion got to small of a tractor at first. My 3200 did alot and is an awesome tractor, but I have future plans that will necessatate a larger tractor.

The L2800 will do all you ask of it, just don't ask it to run a baler or lift a heavy round bale

We have been amazed at how much work it has saved us. Our old Ford didn't have HST, power steering, or FEL. The industrial tires are nice too but traction is less so you will run in 4wd more if you get them. They are great on soft ground, though and give a smooth ride.

I have an L4300--nearly same as L4400--and it is light years different from the 2800 or 3400. I love the four cylinder ans its smoothness. It gets used with a 6 ft Mashio tiller and handles in real well. Pull a one shank sub-soiler 12-14" deep easily and does a lot of smaller things. I have ag tires for ag use, do not have a loader and when I trade up will get a hydro trans which is something I said i would never do. My vote is the bigger tractor.

For what it is worth, I bought an M4900 (45 PTO HP) thinking it was more than I needed. I wish I would have gone with something in the 70 HP range with 4WD. Just saying... If you can swing it financially, go bigger. Same thing goes for a shed or barn. You always need more space or HP.

I looked hard at the L3800 yesterday at my local dealer.
With the loader & 66" quick detach bucket it was $17900 total price.
A Woods bush hog 5 ft was $1650???

That is a decent price on the Woods mower, they are a quality product. Good luck with your new tractor and projects.
