Jerry, not exactly sure what to say other then I think you are quite correct regarding extended ground engaging work. I whole heartedly agree that using a gear tractor is the superior way to go and not just from a heat perspective when this is a primary task you intend to do. It's good to let those who use TBN gain some knowledge from those who have some or a lot of experience with various set ups particularily when they don't. While HST has it's plus's, there are admittedly drawbacks. I certainly think it's been good to have discussion about those issues. While a gear tractor has been my primary experience and 80% of my hours have been with them, the hours of experience I am now getting with HST have certainly been educating. In the end, there is no question that the final decision one makes is entirely ones own. I think it is important to assist in educating those who are new to tractors and in particular, HST primarily because it is relatively new on the market. I am neither a die hard HST or die hard gear guy, I recognize the differences, where one might be more better suited then the other and the advantages of each. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I work on the railroad and we use a machine to plow the ballast during track maintenance. It is a hydro and it plows rock going forward then backs up plowing in reverse 8 to 12 hrs a day. And yeah the oil gets hot but so what? I mean a gear drive transmission is going to get hot also.

Compare prices, compare the "ride" and go form there. Each brand has some nuances, but I suspect your right when you say " best since there all good and I think all there service would be good I guess." What is tym?

Well I still havent bought one yet. I just got a chance to look at (not drive) the kubota 3830 again and I liked the fact that it had a real heavy bucket compared to the rest that i have looked at I but the dealer is 80 miles away so that could be the problem so I don't know what to get any advise /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
