I think raher then ask what the best price anyone has purchased the L3830 for it's important to understand that the price will indeed vary by where in the country you live. I could have purchased it cheaper out of state, but along with that would have been the added frustration of having warranty work performed in the event any was needed. While a local dealer may do it, their reluctance to do it in a timely manner would be up to them. You need to pin down exactly what you want, HD bucket, quick attach, transmission, tires, remote hydraulics etc. I got a price on mine with the following
options
1. HD bucket
2. R4's
3. 3 remotes and TnT
4. Spark arrestor
5. HST
I don't even remember the price but recall it was around $21K
You may or may not have to add sales tax. Some states allow ag exempt as does ours but they are far more stringent on the qualifiyers then others. I opted to skip it, I really don't qualify under CA. rules even though I think I could have fudged it.
In the end, I am very happy with my purchase. The L3830 HST I have is exactly what I wanted/needed.
The GST has proven very reliable in past models. The new Kubota L30's are using a new and improved quicker shifting GST. It should be as reliable even though it introduces electro mechanical shifting.

I'm paying $14,800 for a 3830, 4WD, R4's with FST.
I don't know the price difference for GST or HST.

As for the GST's relieablity don't know but I like it. It can be shifted on the go without using the clutch.

Fred, I agree, the GST I tried was really an efficient setup. I think Kubota is the only manufactuer to offer such a transmission. While FST is really a great improvement over the old manuals, GST has definitely got it's plus's over FST. The ability to quickly get from say 2nd while driving into a pile of dirt to 5th or 6th to transfer it to another location is a great feature. If you rarely shift out of the gear you start in, FST may be your choice especially if price is of prime concern. I have a feeling that the reliability of the new electronic GST will be rather reliable. Rat...

I recently paid $19,500 for a 3830 GST, with a 723 FEL and R-4 (Industrial) tires. I shopped hard for that price & it is still considerably higher than what people have posted from other parts of the country......

Yes, it's required. Remember, we stop getting rain here in about May and don't see it again until about November. Funny thing is, thats not a drought, its just normal and its why RainBird, Hunter etc, do very well in the West. We have a lot of irrigation out here. My place has over 100 irrigation heads mostly impacts some big gear drivens. It's all irrigated by a gravity system so no pumping but it is ditch water so it carries some debris that is filtered at each home to keep the heads from clogging.

That's interesting. I purchased a Yamaha 2800I generator from an outfit in California and it came with a spark arrestor too.
Hows the Gray Davis versus Arnold deal coming? I had a chance to have dinner with Arnold a number of years ago and he is a very imposing person, physically that is. When he speaks, it's hard to equate the voice with the person!!
