I have a leaking cylinder on my la680 and went to get the rebuild kit, but there are two different kits. I can not see markings to tell me what cylinder I have so is there any way to tell without opening the cylinder up to look at the "ram" size?

Which is leaking, a boom cylinder or a bucket cylinder? The parts diagram lists two versions each of the boom and bucket cylinders but they all use the same two seal kit part numbers, 75554-64600 and 75554-63400. If you got one of each kit you'd be sure to have the parts needed to fix the leaker.

Alternatively, take the leaking cylinder's parts to a hydraulic shop to match up the head seal and wiper. Much nicer than buying 2 whole kits and only using 2 pieces. A leaking cylinder can often be fixed cheap. The internal piston seals are most often fine and can be re-used.

It is the bucket cylinder leaking most likely the dirt outer seal is missing a chunk. But if I was going to pull it apart I might as well get all the seals at once, I figure. I was being a tightwad and hoping I had the cheaper 20 kit instead of the 40
