L35 Backhoe turns on but does not move!

Hello, my L35 tractor will turn on, but the clutch will not engage into a gear so the tractor can move. Can anyone confirm that this is an issue with the clutch that has to be replaced/repaired? Has anyone had any experience with similar issues of a tractor not moving?

Also, does anyone know how much a job like this would cost or know any reputable dealers/repair shops in the Northeast? Informal quotes have been estimated at around 4k and plus.

Do you guys have any suggestions? TIA

Likely the GST clutch (wet clutch) is out of the tractor. Before you go with this diagnosis, have the dealer run a pressure check on the GST clutch and verify the pressure is low or non existant.

You can also check the dry clutch action by engaging the PTO and watching the PTO shaft - clutch up - shaft should turn / clutch depressed - shaft should stop.

This is major repair and I would not recommend anyone but the Kubota dealer attempt the repair.

Check the PTO as suggested! The clutch pack could be the problem but without proper diagnostics it's just a guess.

It could be as simple as the cable!

First of all do you have a shuttle shift trans. on the tractor? As far as dealers to work on it, any good tractor shop can fix it and fix it right, it doesnt have to be a Kubota dealer.

The L35 uses the glide shift transmission which is a constant mesh gear drive that is hydraulically shifted. It does use a manual shuttle behind the GST transmission on the front of the speed transmission.

The reaason I recommend that a Kubota dealer do the work, is they know the GST - no one else builds one. They have access to the parts and service information. I agree that competent mechanics can work on all kinds of things they may not have been trained on, but why let them learn on yours?
