L3400
My L3400 seems to have a suspension seat but it does not move at all. I have tried prying under it, I have tried jumping up and down on the frame, it doesn't move the slightest. I have loosened the tension knob all the way.. no movement.. Is there a trick to this??

I lubed the heck out of mine and jumped up and down on the frame multiple times ( big fat guy, about 300 lbs here) and it finally broke loose. It took quite a while. Try some penetrating oil like Kroil or something, let it set a while and try the Wiley Coyote stomp again.

Took the one off my L2800, lubed it, jumped on it, problem solved.

Cool. I will work on it tomorrow. The worst on my back is using the backhoe. That seat has no springs, nothing and trying to rip up stumps often I am accidentally lifting/slamming the whole tractor up/down which is tough on the back.. Mostly because I am new at the controls I think, fine line between digging out something and lifting the tractor sometimes..

While we are on the seat subject. What does the switch under the seat do? Is that for starting? I have never tried to start it while not in the seat because I need to push in the clutch.... Is it supposed to shut off when you are out of the seat? Mine still runs, I know that because I often get off the tractor to open/close gates or while trying to hook up the backhoe.. You pretty much need to have it running to use the hydraulics to attach/detach the backhoe and you can't do that from the seat!

It has been quite a few years (swapped mine for my Kioti) but from what I remember was if you came up out of the seat the switch shut off the fuel solenoid and the tractor ceased to run. BUT you could jump up and had about 2 seconds to tilt the seat forward and the tractor will continue to run continuously for "off seat" operations like running a chipper or some other operations. So the seat switch has two positions. A lot of people just tye-wrapped them down or wired around them. Some people that are light in the caboose had trouble just squirming around in the seat and the tractor would die. I never had much problem with it in that regard, but when using pallet forks, you need to raise up in the seat to see the tips better enter the pallet. I solved that problem by trading for a Kioti. :) Of course a tye-wrap might be cheaper. :)

If yours runs with you off the seat and not tilted forward then it is stuck or wired around or tye-wrapped down.

I will see what it does with the seat tilted forward.. Never tried that. It does run with it not tipped forward.
It has to run with me out of the seat when I am in the backhoe seat, so maybe any tractors with backhoes with a 2nd seat have it disabled.

If the tractor is in gear, the seat switch is supposed to kill the tractor when you get off the seat, lean to far forward, or to far to the right because mine is on the left side. With the pto on and the tractor is parked, you have the 2 seconds to flip it up to run a chipper/ shredder etc. mine is gear drive so it will crank with no one in the seat, as long as the gear shift is in neutral. I normally crank it that way to let it warm up if it’s cold outside.

On HST machines it will run with you out of the seat. But if you touch the go pedal & arent in the seat it immediately kills the machine. I ziptied mine down so I could stand & see the end of my pallet forks.

I believe you have a couple seconds to flip the seat up if the PTO is engaged to keep it running for chipper type usage.
