is there any way to get any more horsepower out of a 3240? I know the 3800 has basically the same engine but a few more ponies under the hood

3240? Is that a Kubota? IDK, I think the Japanese pretty well design the machines so the engine power matches the tranny and final drive with a keen eye on longevity. I suppose you could tear down any engine and bore the cylinders for a couple more hp. On a gas engine you can mess with carburation, ignition and such. I say get smaller implements or a bigger tractor.

Generically you can crank up the amount of fuel put out by the pump, to a point. At some point you won't have enough air to support the extra fuel. At that point you need to add a turbo.

All that assumes the engine is strong enough for the extra power & has good enough cooling.

The question becomes, "how much money do you have?" The truth is that it is easier to buy a bigger tractor and be done with it.

thanks for the input,.. would be nice if they offered a small turbo kit for the smaller tractors

i wonder if a straight pipe or less restrictive muffler would gain 1 or 2 hp

And greater COOLING CAPACITY to go with the ponies.

I've spent my life making things faster and more powerful.

Neither of those are great for reliability and thats what I like tractors to be...
