Kubota L3240
Hey guys,

This is my first tractor with an auto-throttle. Is it me or does Kubota runs the rpm's unnecessarily high when it is in auto-throttle? Maybe I'm just not used to it but it just seems like it doesn't need to run way up there for the amount of "pedal" I'm giving it.

Of course I turn it off when doing work that requires steady PTO but when doing loader work I've been using it.

Husky,

yep thats the same thing I've decided. I just don't like having it rev up so high just to move. I never use the auto throttle.

I grew up with the older tractors that you set the rpm with the hand throttle and that's how I do it now.

I have an L3240 hst btw. I really love it.

Thanks SC. I looooove my L more and more each time I get on it. I may end up doing the same thing...just setting the throttle by hand.

I seem to recall a thread here several years ago about the HST Plus where a cable adjustment was done to reduce the RPM's of the auto throttle.Seems like something I'd do if I had one.Somebody should remember it,hopefully?

I assumed the setting as adjusted by the dealer/factory was set to get the RPM's in the power area. To get to 540 RPM's the revs are pretty high.

I felt the same way when I had the L3240. I rarely used that feature of the tractor. I'm not a "full throttle all the time on a diesel" supporter/believer. I know some here say they get on, full throttle until they get off no matter what they are doing. I just can't do it.:)

I can't do it either. Maybe it's the way to go but I'm just not wired like that.

I feel the same way about auto throttle on my 3240
Reves way to high to do little work. I could adjust it I guess but I find leaving the throttle at one set rpm gives me far more control in tight places or fine work.
I guess it would be great for driving around with a trailer or something like loading a truck all day.

I have the equivalent of auto-throttle on my JD 4520. I just don't use it. The increase and decrease in rpms seems rediculous in most cases for minor work or FEL tasks.

I have the L3240hst/cab and yes it does seem to rev up high to get pto speed 'around 2650 or so .I asked the dealer about where to run rpm's to get the most power from the fel and he said about 2000. While I'm flail mowing I'll get rocks out as I go. At 2000 rpms getting out large rocks the motor dies down some ,but at 2650 rpms the fel works better and seems to have alot more power and the tractor keeps up the rpms better. I use the auto-throttle. With all the (H-DS),Load Sensing, HST Response Con., Auto-Throttle Adv. I think it will be awhile before I get this all worked out to find out how to use it to its best ability. Over all I love this tractor.
