I noted here that a few vendors do carry the shop manuals. Are they worth the $$ ? I am a DIY'er (within reason) and would like to have a soup to nuts book for my new machine. Thanks.

I bought the shop manual when I bought my L3130 and actually had the manual before I had the tractor. Reading through the shop manual gave a better understanding of the tractor and let me change some things on my tractor order.

AS to whether or not they are worth the $$ is for each to decide. I have always had the policy of buying the shop manuals for each of my major purchases and in the long run that policy has always saved me money over and above the cost for the manuals.

In the past I have always done ALL of my own repairs now because of health problems I am hiring more done. The manuals still save me money since I can do my own diagnostics and be sure what needs to be done and what is BS.

I have the full shop manual for my JD lawn tractor and it has been a life saver. The machine has only been in the shop once in the last 10 years for some warranty work. Everything else that has needed repair since then, I performed myself. Below are a couple of links for vendors:
