Got a ~ '99 Kubota L3010 HST tractor and have a problem w/ it. It sat for several weeks and when I went to start it, I noticed the gear shifter was stuck in the L gear. It still starts though, but if I remember correctly, it usually won't start unless it's in N right? Anyways, the shifter is stuck in L gear, and I can't get it to change gears, I have to run it in L all the time now. Any ideas as how to fix this? All suggestions appreciated.

My 3010 starts in any range provided the clutch is in and the PTOs are disengaged.

Is it 'unstuck' yet? sometimes it just takes a bit of movement ...

Maybe mine did too. For some reason I thought it had to be in N. Oh well. Nah, she's still stuck in L gear. As in movement, do you mean the tractor moving or shifter movement? I've tried moving the shifter but to no avail. The tractor has seen extremely little use the last 6 months. Any other ideas?

Get on a level surface and depress the treadle very slightly in forward or reverse while applying a moderate amount of pressure on the range lever. Sometimes this does the trick. HTH

Forgot this one. Sometimes if you just slightly move the tractor and let it come to a rest, again while applying pressure on the range selector and on flat ground, it will come out of a stuck range as the transmission load is being reduced/eliminated.

coolbrze,
Do exactly as bugstruck says and it should come out of "L" with some help on your part. All HST's have a tendenacy to do this.

Thanks, will try as soon as I can. Will the HST always do this, or is it a one time thing? Will report back as soon as I've tried.

You either have a situation where the gears need to do some rolling to synchronize which I do by tapping the HST pedal or what it sounds like in this case is the LMH range selector is frozen at on of its joints and needs either some lube or removal and clean up attention.

I recall about 3 posts in the last couple of years where the shifter linkage on 3010's and 3710's was rusty or grimed up and needed cleaning to shift.

One of them stuck in neutral I think, the other in low. Try searching the old threads

Well, I tried getting her out of gear again w/ no luck. I cleaned the linkage, lubed it w/ WD-40, tried 'rocking' the 'Buta back and forth while trying to change gears, to no avail. Any other ideas. Maybe it's the linkage itself. How do I check the linkage? Thanks for all the suggestions so far.
