My dealer has recommended the L3000DT for my needs. I have 18 acres, heavily wooded, but will hire a dozer to clear about 5 acres for a pasture. I will be cleaning up afterwards with a rear blade and loader, plus I want to clear some other areas of saplings, brush, etc. Lots of dirt (sand) from the roots of large trees to move after they are burned. Will be doing some brush hogging, pasture mowing, tilling, etc. afterwards. I am wanting economy but power, so this is what we landed on. He has priced the L3000DT with a Brush Hog FEL for $13,855 (plus tax) which reflects the $975 Kubota rebate. Is this a good price? Is there anything else in this price range (or less) that from your experience would fill my needs? I have already decided against the B7500 since the FEL and 3PH capacities are too light. This is pretty much the high end of my budget.

8NTX -

On 9/1/00 I was quoted $15,720 (before tax) for a new L3000DT with the LA450S-1 loader.

I later wound up buying my L2500DT (used - 170 hours) and a brand new LB400 loader for $13,600, plus tax. At the time, that was the best bang for the buck I could find. Sounds like you're onto something better.

8NTX,

Sounds like a good deal - tho from what you said "clearing up what the dozer left" definitely get a tooth bar on the bucket to rake out the stuff they will leave behind and to root out the small saplings. ($250-300 Addl)

Second if you plant grass, get a landscape rake with wheels to finish grade the area or make a setup as described in other posts on a chain link fence to drag the area. Plus a brush hog, etc..

The L3000 is a good machine and will do a lot of work, however the dealer makes $ on the implements as well - maybe even higher margins so when you start adding these into the deal he may be more flexible. When you go back in a year or so to add this stuff, used or otherwise it will likely cost you more than bundling it now.

What my experience is, get another price for what you are looking - either on line - Carvers etc, and compare to your local dealer, then make a deal that is good for you.

Regarding other deals/machines there are other machines out there that will be close/lower to your price/performance requirements, and I am sure some more good advice will follow on how to spend your money!!

Your pricing is great to me. Bought my L3000DT with LB400loader and delivered(75 miles) for $15000(no tax). This was the best price I could find and that did not include a Bush hog. I'd say SOLD!!!! Good luck. Marty

Sounds like a good price and good machine. My price for the L2500DT (identical to Harvs) was similar to his price. Same machine as the L3000 but with a little less hp. I ditto the toothbar purchase though, just ordered mine last week from Carver

I bought my L3000DT last July and the best price I could find around here was $15,700 w/FEL. It is a fine piece of machinery. I have a landscape rake without the wheels and I have used one with wheels, get the wheeled model.

I have a 7 foot rear blade that works well, it covers the wheel width at the greatest angle. I don't have the toothbar yet but agree if you are going to do any serious digging in root or rocky soil it is a great asset.

The price you were quoted is great, you won't find a better new tractor for that money.
