My L2850 will not start up until I let it sit for at least 30 to 45 minutes after I have been working it hard for an hour or two. Yesterday after tedding hay for two hours it would not start until it had been sitting for 45 minutes, then it was fine. This morning it fired up right away.
Each time dash lights come on and head lights are bright but it will not even attempt to turn over until it sits a while. This is the third time I have noticed this. The last time was when I had been moving a manure pile one bucket at a time to a small spreader in another file for about an hour.
Do you guys have any suggestions as to what might be causing this? It is not running hot on the gauge on the dash. New water pump about a month ago.
Thanks Larry

Help us out a bit. By not starting do you mean not firing up? Or, not even turning the starter over?

Just an initial guess, your "heat soaked"starter motor may be at the end of it's service life, worn brushes, etc.Post back.Good Luck!

That sounds like an interlock switch. Seat, PTO, pedal, clutch. If not one of those then I suppose it could be the circuit card. Try wiggling some things.

It will not turn over one time until it cools down.

Number two on number two. Typical of a heat soaked starter.

Well I finally had time to check on my problem. I did a battery test and found 10volts under load. Not a bad battery but a weak one. It seemed to not have the energy to refire the tractor when it was hotter. I replaced the battery and checked the restart after tedding for two hours. It fired back up no problem. I am raking to day and if it works again I will consider...problem solved
Stay tuned
