I have a 1975 L285 with 1100 hrs. When using the PTO in high the trans.is leaking oil around the gear levers. I,m hoping to remove the top and replace o-rings. But that would be too easy. Does anybody know what I should do ?

Except for the mess, it's not a problem. Working the tractor all day mowing it may leak an ounce of oil from the shifter area. Not to worry. Most of the time it's at lower rpm and doesn't leak at all. You could try wrapping some cotton around the sleeve under part 008 in the diagram to reduce the flow path. Or you could get the parts list for your model and order all the suspect parts (maybe spendy).

Thanks so much, I,m going to do this as soon as the grass stops growing . I would like to fix the leak before we paint the tractor
