Kubota L2800
I just got a new L2800 this week and when I have the PTO engaged driving the bush hog and push in the clutch there is a ratcheting sound that comes from the PTO that stops when I disengage the PTO. The dealer said it was normal as it some sort of free spinng that is a safety feature for the tranny.. but It sounds a lil nasty... Just wondering if all the 2800's do this??

Yes, all L2800 and L3400 HST units do this.

It is caused by an over running clutch that ratchets to prevent the implement from driving the transmission.

I minimize this noise by slowly reducing the engine RPM to around 1500, then press the clutch and disengage at the same time.

Kubota has a fix that adds more oil to the transmission that helps dampen the noise. I chose not to do that.
