Oil & Fuel L2501 Gas station Diesel

So this morning I was at the local Gas station filling up my Gas Cans with dielsel for my new Tractor. My neighbor pulls up and says, "You better not be putting that in your Kubota unless you want to tear up the engine." I asked if he was serious and he said yes. Then the guy at the pump next to me says it doesn't really matter which type of diesel you use in the tractor - just don't use off road diesel in your truck.

Here I am sitting outside wondering if it is safe to put these 10 gallons in my tractor, or if I just picked up some fuel for my next burn pile. Is anyone able to clear this up for me? If there is somewhere else I should look for the answer I will gladly read it.

Been running on-road and off road diesel in my little BX23 since 2004 without any fuel related issues. I'm sure I've even run them mixed.......
I generally buy my on-road diesel at a particular station that has alot of diesel traffic. I buy my off-road at 2 different places, a local CoOp and a little station out in the sticks, both do a lot of business. And thats why I purchase from them, with high fuel sales they will generally have fresher fuel with less likelyhood of water contamination. I use the same 2ea 5 gal containers too.....
If theres a so called problem with running on road or off road diesel in a diesel tractor I've sure not experienced it, nor has anyone else that I know with diesel powered machinery....... Course they only use off road diesel in their trucks only to get them to the gas station if they're about to run out of fuel, where they'll fill up with the proper "taxed" on-road diesel, we all know your not supposed to run off road diesel in a vehicle.....
