My recently acquired L2500DT has a leak that results in gear lube running down the side of the axle case on the right front side. In researching the problem, it appears that the leak is coming from the front axle seal.
I have purchased a new axle seal, but when attempting to install it, I can only locate the two lower snap rings that hold the assembly together. The parts diagram show a snap ring that holds the top bearing and axle case to the bevel gear case, but it is not visible or accessible from either the bottom or the side of the front axle case.
Does anyone have an idea of where this snap ring is located and how to access it for removal and subsequent installation?
