Hey Bob, here is that photo I said I'd send.

It is of my L1501 which is a grey copy of our L185.

Not sure if you guys got the L185. Does it look like your L175?

Cheers

Hi Neil from OZ--

Yep -- that looks pretty much like an "exact match" to me. 'Cept my color isn't as nice as yours. Don't use mine all that often these days, but it sure has held up for me all these years. Nice lookin' tractor you got.

I bought mine in early 1977 so am celebrating my 25th anniversary this year! Mine is 2 cylinder, like yours I suppose, 15 horsepower, diesel. It's got 8 forward and 2 reverse gears. I paid about $3,300 new, and expect it's worth something around that right now. I am looking into a new Kubota, probably right after Jan. 1. But, don't think I'll find one new for $3,000.

All the best to you in OZ-tralia.

Looks just like my L175F except mine does not have the optional chain steering linkage or the chain seat belts like yours does. Do these work well and have you had any problems with them? ric

Bob - Wow you bought it new !! - Cool.

So I figure mine is a similar vintage. Do you remember/know if there was an L185? - I think that is the aussie variant.

Mine has 16 forward gears and 4 reverse. Most other things are the same from what I gather. Also supposed to be 18hp I think.

My mechanic reckons it is a beauty and in very good condition. I aim to keep it that way. It has been repainted so dont feel so bad !!!

Cheers and thanks for the response !!

Ric

I got sick of those chain attachments and got rid of them. Attached is another pic showing the options removed !!!

I must say that the chain option pack was real handy to lift the tractor with !!!

Cheers

Neil, attached is a pic of my old (no longer have) L175, which was in all actuality a L1500 gray market. Good little tractor! It was rated at just over 17 horsepower, and did what I wanted it to do!

Hey scruffy

I even have another pic of yours saved on my PC.

Wanted to show my wife what it looked like with a loader on.

Did you fit the loader or did it come with it.

How did the hydraulics connect? - Do they have to plumb in some connections or are there some blank ports or something where they connect?

Cheers

I bought it virtually the way it sat on the trailer. Had a hydraulic hose broken, and missing the 3pt hitch pins, seat was bare metal, w/broken braket, steering wheel was just metal ring (all plastic broken off) and missing a couple shift knobs, work lights, tail lights, etc, but essentially very clean otherwise. The hydraulic was all in place, I believe they just had to 'plug' it in so to speak. I don't have the manuals for it, as they went with the tractor when I sold it, but I believe it used factory hydraulics and the loader just utilized plugged ports.
You know of course that you can still get the decals for that little beasty! I like that model, good little workhorses!

Geez mine must have beeb good. Came like it was out of the box, just the seat was torn. Had it recovered now I reckon I have a vintage on my hands !

Loaders are real dear and probably won't happen.
A guy here can get mini-loaders which seem to be just a small slace version using 1 ram in the centre of the tractor, instead of one on each side.

He reckons he might start making them, so you never know..........

Cheers

Neil, one of the members made a loader for his, and it looked very much like the one on ol Grumpy. I believe the cad plans are available for it, and it would be much cheaper than buying a manufactured one.
