What L series tractor, L3400 or L4400, would be about the same size as the B7800, but have a whole lot more power and FEL capacity?

Since the B7800 only comes in HST the L3400 would be closer to B7800 in size wise and have more power and weight.

Yes I want HST. What I'm looking for is a machine that is not much bigger, but has a lot more FEL lifting capacity, breakout force and height. I need to stay narrow for small yard access. How does the new B3030 compare?

A B3030 is just a Deluxe version of the B7800. Would not be any larger at all. The L3400 would be the next step up with a few more HP and a higher capacity loader. A little longer and wider as well but not much.

Most of the specifications, including dimensions, are available on the Kubota web site for all of their tractors. It appears that the L3400 is pretty close in size, while the L4400 is much larger.

The Grand L series would almost double the weight lifting capacity of the 7800. The L3130 is a little more HP and only about 6" or so wider according to Kubota's website. If you want more HP, you'll have to go larger yet such as L3430.
Good luck

I bought my L3400 (gear) for $2200 less than the quote on a B7800 (my first choice). The dimentions do not look much larger, but parked side by side the L3400 is a much larger piece of equipment.

How does the gear trans work for you and what type of work do you do with it?

Muleskinner,
I have the L4400 gear drive and I love it, I have always been used to gear drive tractors. It has not disappointed me anytime that I have been on it. I can move dirt with FEL at a pretty good pace you just have to get use to it.

I have 76 acres and allot of brush hogging. I got the gear for the more PTO hp for this, mainly.

Also I have found that box-blading is very simple with the gear because you set a speed and then can concentrate on the box.

I have done some FEL work and I will grant you, this is where I miss the hydro. However, I am getting used to the gear and getting quicker. No one will ever be able to shuttle shift an FEL as fast as a hydro, but, I don't get paid by the hour and my tractor time is good therapy for my mental issues. (LOL /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

There is another thread about shifting and rattling the gears which is a good read on the qualities (+/-) of the shuttle tranny.
