L-2501 HST fluid level sight glass. (Dipstick?)

Well I thought I like the idea of the sight glass, it's a pain getting it right and checking it. I guess I'll do the John Deere die thing if it doesn't stain the sight glass.

Makes me wonder if you can use a dipstick from a older tractor like a 3201 in it?

I have no problem seeing the fluid level in the sight glass.
I have 100 hrs on my tractor wo not sure if it gets more difficult with time.

There is no such thing as a L3201. My old L3200 had the crappy sight glass in it so o used the JD red dye in it. Never stained anything, other than probably my pants at some point.

I heard about the JD dye from L3400 owners (previous generation to the L3200). So pretty safe to say, there is no OEM historic dipstick option you could try. My new L4060 has a dipstick, but the Grands have a very different transmission case setup.

Given how much the volume changes as hydraulics extend or retract, it's just a ballpark level you are shooting for anyway.

I think the manual says mid-glass with the loader down & bucket curled. But it's been a while since I looked at the manual for my former L3200.
