IMHO a pull type rake will outperform a 3 pt rake hands down.

I owned 2 Kuhn 3pt rakes and love it. Advantage is lifting over windrows, especially in 3 corner patches. Easily can load tractor and rake on my trailer for some longer distance fields. Not easily stolen out of field when unhooked and left in field.
Much easier backing up. The Kuhn 3pt rake does float so terrain isn't an issue.
Either will do the job.

I have always used a 3 pt hitch sd rake. Here in New England, so many boulders sticking up in the fields you have to have a 3 pt in order to work around them, and its easier,I think when you have edges of the field like stone walls or fence, to make a double windrow.

I have a 4.5m (15'?)Kuhn 3pt rotary rake. I would prefer a pull type just for ease of hook up, but the 3pt has a big advantage that you can pick it up over windrows. Don't know how big your tractor is but my rake only requires 50 or so hp to run but my pos 93hp tractor can only lift it half way so it won't quite clear windrows...

3 pt is nice if u have a lot of tight manuvoring. We like the pull implements because we can pull them with our trucks
