kubota zd321 looks way better than anything green

I ........ my dealer told me that the new ZD321 was underpowered and Kubota was working on a fix. He said that Kubota may change out the deck to a 54" deck. He said this problem is a result of the additional weight and the increased blade tip speed.........

I called a dealer yesterday to ask prices on the ZD321. He said "do not get a ZD321-60". The dealer said his Kubota rep said basically the same thing you heard. He recommended a 54" deck for the ZD321. He said they added about 200# to the new models. He also said if you stay on pretty flat ground that you would probably be ok with the 60" deck.
Is the 54" a PRO deck?

It would be a mistake for Kubota to use the 54" deck on a ZD321. I had a ZD21 about 3 years ago with a 60" deck. The deck only slightly stuck out past the tires. I was already hitting and knocking stuff over with the tires on the 60" deck. It was so bad that I swapped the ZD21 in for the ZD28 with the 72" deck. It was much better trimming around objects with the deck that stuck further out past the tires. The 54' deck would be awful.

I agree. It seems kinda stupid to put a 54" deck on that mower.

really, 6" is not going to make or break the performance of the mower either.

The tires are only 10.5" wide on the ZD321-54 and they are 12" wide on the ZD321-60.

zd321= 1700 lbs
29 lbs difference and 6" from 60" deck and 54" deck on on 321
Thats not a big difference.
everyone says the "rep" is the one talking about this problem yet the mower has only been out for a couple of months, heck they arent even at the dealer down here yet.
who has grass to mow yet? If this is a problem ill step up to the 326 its only a grand more but would sure like to know if i really need to spend the grand.

I'm happy with my ZD28, but I sure wish it had the maintenance hatch that the new ones do. Maybe a little retrofit?

zd 326 is sittin in the garage tonight, thing is a beast i love it !!!!!
11,400 was the price and i would have paid more this thing is going to be easy to maintain and mows like a dream. its so quiet also
