Hi everyone! Just wanted your thoughts on a price of $8960 that I just got from my local Kubota dealer. It's a brand new ZD21 (60") and it comes with free delivery. He says he needs to move it cause he'll have to pay Kubota a fee soon. Is that a good price?

He offered a 36 month 0% financing also.

I have been looking at the Grasshopper Z (front mount) with the Kubota engine and was told that its best to get at least a 25hp model. What do you think?

By the way, I'll be cutting about 10 acres (about 50 trees on rough old pasture land) which I'm doing now with a JD L120 lawn tractor (48") and the Kubota B7500 with a Woods 48" rough cut attached. I do have some hills but both the JD and Kubota handle them, including the sand mount.

That seems like a fair price. I would rather have the GrassHopper front mount 722D for the simple fact that it will ride better...that alone is worth a lot of $ in my eyes...also keep in mind that the front mount deck on the Grasshopper is a lot easier to work on than the Kubota decks (yes the Kubota decks raise but what a pain in the a** they are). Just ride them both and see which one you are happy with.

Thanks for the reply. The Grasshopper dealer will bring one out to my property for a test drive. The Kubota dealer won't. I have been looking at the 722 and I like it but its about $2.5k more. Is it better on slopes? Is it worth the difference in price?

I've mowed extensively on all sorts of zero turn radius mowers over the last dozen years or so. I would exceed the limit of the length of a post to list them all. To be brief, I have spent many hours on each model you are considering. I have plenty of obsticles and some rather steep slopes. Our local school corporation calls the front mount Grasshoppers their "mountain goats" for hills, if that tells you anything.

I won't argue with anyone because they always seem to get their feelings hurt, but my butt has been in the seat on these things from hundreds to thousands of hours. I no longer mow commercially, but feel free to look at my bio for what mowers I personally use now. If I had to pick just one zero turn radius mower to do it all, it would have to be the 722D hands down. The ride is much better, the handling on extreme slopes is far superior, and I can attest to the durability. Combine those features with the bulletproof 3 cyl Kubota diesel, and it's certainly a winning combination. So, is is better on slopes and is it worth the extra money? **** YES. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
