did you ever have a day when you wish you had stayed in bed?? about 45 minutes ago, i went to back my RTV 900 out of the garage, and backed right into the front of my Chevy truck..put a dent/hole in the hood, on the drivers side and broke the headlight mounting stuff/plastic and bent the drivers side front fender. we had a lot of company yesterday..so i had parked my truck where i usually don't park it, but that's no excuse...new headlight and mount is $200..the fender i can straighten out enough to be ok..the hood i probably will for a while but i've gotta get the head light mounting parts pretty quick. sure makes a feller feel like a real dunce..

Besides the awful knot in your stomach, I trust you were not injured? Or for that matter the Kubota.

Must be the week for this type of accident. I was backing my old car off the lift, and came within millimeters of backing into my car. I stopped, got out to check out the damage, and realized that another 1/8" I would have wiped out the side of the car. I love my wifes new car, since it has the back up alarm that warns you when something is behind the car. Wonder if that technology can be adapted to tractors? ;)

I guess it's ***** happens. But don't feel bad, we all have done it once. A few years back I bought my wife a brand new Chevy Suburban. A month later I got a brand new Ford F150 pickem up truck. We were building a new house at the time and I had to meet my contractor and I drove across our acreage way into the back yard. My wife was already there talking to the contractor. I started talking to the contractor about the landscaping and my wife decides to take my new truck, yes my new truck and uses it to drive back up to the house. She parks behide her suburban instead of my parking space, goes into the house, gets her keys to the suburban, yep she backs right into my pickup. There is not 3,000 miles on these two vehicle combined. She felt pretty bad. I had to chew her out some, first she took my pickup to get back to the house, parks not in my spot. da da dah

But she reminded me of the time I backed the tractor into the garage door as it was coming down:eek: Write it off as battle scars;)

Kubota came out on the best end of it all: no injuries for me, just that knot in the ole stomach: ordered a headlight an mounting bracket from a local auto salvage: its an aftermarket, only $14 cheaper than the one from the dealer, but they could get it here tomorrow and the dealer couldn't: messed up the wide crome looking strip thats in the middle of the grill: but i'll patch that back together, straighten the hood and the fender a little, so with the new light and mount, it'll be good enough for me, for a while anyway. i couldn't believe how easy the whole grill came out. there sure ain't a lot holdin em together.

I had a friend do that, hit one of his cars with another one of his cars. Insurance wouldn't pay. Said they have people do this on purpose to get/keep cars in good shape, runs up cost for everyone else. They said he couldn't prove it happened "accidentally", so no dice. Be careful how you report it to your ins. company.

insurance co won't ever know about this..i ordered the headlight assembly, will pull the front fender out with the tractor and later get the hood fixed. i keep a really high deductable on insurance, so it wouldn't save much money to report this.

Afternoon Heehaw,
I feel your pain ! No sooner than I finished the rebuild/restore on my 49 Super A Farmall and I backed the tractor into the corner of the garage forgetting about beam hanging down in that corner:( I bent my brandnew muffler over like a pretzle :( I was so mad I even brought the wife out to show her what I had just done ! She must have felt bad for me, she offered to buy me a new muffler ;) :)

Can you find one at a scrapyard/junkyard? Might be cheaper if you don't have some wild paintjob.

checked several places, found a headlight for $125 instead of $200: but no front fenders or hoods: i'm going to just get it pulled back out straight, and put a bug shield across the hood: that will cover almost all the damage: its a truck..a nice truck, but still a truck..no telling what i will hit with it before i ever get rid of it. 2004 with 20,000 miles..

Boy, I would hate to think I was just half-a** a truck that new. I would consider doing something like that with our '97 Honda w/ 230k miles, I don't think I would do that to my '99 Silverado w/ 95k miles. There is now way I would do that to a truck that new w/ only that many miles. I guess each his own.

like i said, theres no telling what i will hit between now and when i get rid of this truck: so i won't spend that kind of money to fix something so minor: plus the truck is bright red: i haven't seen one yet that the paint matched a couple years later, and i'd rather have a dent in the hood than one thats a different color.

got my truck back today: instead of replacing the hood and fender, they repaired both, so the total came to @ $1400..that includes fixing the drivers door where someone was mowing as i went by and the mower threw a rock and put a big ole ding almost dead center of the door. it looks like a new truck..

When I was in college I had a day just like that. Was a lousy day from the get-go for some reason. All remember was that I got in my old '70 Monte Carlo to go to my football workout right as my mom and sister were driving off to the store or something. I had a million things going through m head as I got just about to the end of the driveway and felt the bump and heard the crunch. My mom was still sitting at the end of the driveway. Traffic happened to be such that had not pulled out yet. I have backed my Monte into the back of her Grand Am. Was lucky that it only cracked the bumper cover and knocked out the lens for the break/taillight.... Cost me around 125 or 150 to get the lens and stuff fixed... crack is still there in the bumper cover I think that car has over 300,000 on it now and my Dad is still driving it. Monte is sitting there waiting for a generous person to donate time, materials and/or money to restore it. Needs the engine rebuilt first... tranny has already been done... I accept donations for the cause though:D She is still my baby as far as I am concerned. Numbers still match on it and the body os pretty straight...:)
