Dealer sold me the UDT and when I checked my manual it said UDT2. I called them about it and they said it was no big deal and the UDT2 was $7 more per gallon. I'm going to bring it back to them and get the UDT2

FWIW, my B8200 calls for Kubota UDT, and seems to work just fine with that, so I haven't splurged for the SUDT or the other premium fluids. I notice that the 5 gal. pail was going to cost over $100, so I checked into options, and found that NAPA sells their heavy duty tractor hydraulic fluid for $54/ 5 gal. The specs seem about the same as Kubota's UDT in terms of viscosity, pour points, lubricity and such. It is listed as a suitable equivalent for Kubota's UDT.

54 bucks for 5 gal. That is where I will be going. I'm sure it's as good. That Kubota brand is expensive stuff, the same price as Amsoil.

That NAPA price is the Fleet discount price, you have ask for it. I use their 85-405 in my BX since the 50 HR service. Could not tell any difference and now have 1000 Hrs. I use it in my log splitters also.

Yes the oil is expensive but the tranny is more expensive. I'm going to put the UDT2 since it's under warranty. On the bucket it clearly states manufactured for Kubota.

Many people have reported less transmission whine and much better cold weather performance with UDT2. It is a better fluid. I would stick to UDT2 for HST trannys, especially on equipment that would be used in cold weather.

If you go to Kubota.com
Kubota UDT Trans Fluid
You will get the facts from the horses mouth.
There are now only two types - UDT (which is now actually
UDT2 oil as the original UDT is discontinued)) and Super UDT2

The following is extracted from their web site
____________________________________________________________________________
What is the difference between UDT and Super UDT2?
Both products are high quality lubricants. Super UDT2 delivers superior performance for water tolerance, smooth gear shifts, and reduced brake squawk. It does not thin out at high temperatures (no metal to metal contact), provides more power in hydraulic systems, improved transmission operation, and faster cold weather starts. Super UDT2 is the top performance lubricant designed to maximize the life of your Kubota.

What is the difference between UDT and Excavator Oil?
Operating conditions for excavators are quite extreme, temperatures vary widely, corrosion occurs and loss of hydraulic pressure is common. Kubota excavator lubricants are especially formulated to meet these requirements. There is a difference!

Is Super UDT2 a Synthetic Oil?
Super UDT2, Kubota's proprietary hydraulic/transmission fluid, is approximately 75% synthethic. It is a multi-purpose all-weather tractor hydraulic fluid. It is fully compatible with UDT fluids.
