I'm making this a new post to hopefully make it easier for people to find in the future. The attached image is two pages from the Kubota 4690A Backhoe manual showing the diagrams and part numbers for the reinforced top link brackets for most late model tractors.

Have fun

Peter

/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif None of the numbers match the one I put on my 2910.

Bracket part #70050-94557.

Mine must be the new and improved number $$$$ /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Humm, maybe the old part has been superceded. Regardless, if you attempt to order the old part the superceded part number should come up.

Pure speculation on my part, but I've noticed that the bracket on the B2x10/B2x00 series provides a more narrow slot/gap for the top link as compared to the original factory bracket. I've even found some top links that required some nimor grinding to fit. It wouldn't surprise me if they fixed this and substituted a new part number.

Can you measure the gap on yours?

The gap is 1 5/8" on my B7500.

I just noticed something a little strange. The bolts for the B7500 (actually all the current B series), are half metric and half english. What's up with that?

The lower two bolts are 3/8-24 x 1 1/2, and the upper two bolts are M10 - 1.5 x 35. That must make wrenching one of these a bit of a challenge....

GlueGuy,Thats because the ROPS is made here in the U.S. and the rest of the tractor is made in Japan. Look at the U.K. web site for Kubota and the ROPS are different for the same tractors here in the U.S.

Ah. Hadn't really paid attention, but you're right, those lower bolts go into the ROPS structure.

That's kind of amazing. Here we are in 2002. All car manufactures build in metric, the tractor is built in metric, but the bozos in hoboken are making the ROPS in english. You'd think that Kubota could just specify the bolts, etc. to be used..

Hayden,
The parts breakdown is very much appreciated , it includes some items that most of us would have had to make ourselves but since we now know all the info we can order it ready made.'
Many thanks

Peter,

Just wanted to say, "Thanks" for posting the photo. It got me to thinking about this topic more and I wound up ordering the three pieces from Carver's. The parts came in today and they do look just like the photo! The people at Carver's were very good to work with. I basically wrote them an e-mail telling what tractor I had and asked them to call me for the card number. They had a good price too.

Now I have to wait 2 days before I have time to install it.....

You're welcome and best of luck. Kubota doesn't make it easy to find them since they are burried in the backhoe manual and do not show up in the tractor parts book.

How much was it Ron??? The earlier posts indicated around eighty bucks for the bracket and bolts.

Bayrat
That's right. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif 80 bucks plus tax. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Thanks Ron, at least it hasn't gone up since the last thread. I suppose that will be on my to do list now. I looked at the roll bar mount and it appears as though they could have used about a half inch more steel and joined it with the upper link bracket and had the same result as the H/D provides /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif. Too simple I guess /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif.

Just wanted to add to the top link discussion, Ist cost of 3 brackets and 2 spacers is $127 list price+bolts. not much
compared to price of tractor. These brackets are thick steel
and would be very time consuming to make. After looking
the problem over I decided that the only way to really
strengthen top link is to weld the original top link angle
metal brackets to the new main bracket, If you look at it
this new bracket only adds strength on the push, the pull is
still being held by the same 6 bolts, if they are welded
together the load is spread out to top, also I noticed if you
use the mid holes to connect top link at least the load is
placed on all 6 bolts, I bought a industrial 6' gannon that
weighs 1000+lbs empty and looking at the metal sizes can
see that the top link mount is indeed the weak link!!

Hayden, thanks for the info/link regarding the reinforced top link brakets. I have printed the page and will be going to my dealer in the near future to see about obtaining the parts. I had some initial concerns regarding the weight of the Tufline blade in regards to the distance from the blade to the 3pt hitch. The reinforce toplink bracket sounds like a very good idea.

Ches, If you still need top link bracket, I have a new main bracket with 2 spacers atached. You would still need the two other small brackets and bolts, If you're interested send me a PM. Welding the original brackets definetly makes the whole link stronger without to much hassle

My new top link bracket came in yesterday (only ordered it last Friday) with the bolts and washers. I think I am good to go. Now just need to wait until this artic chill leaves the southern NC area. Thanks anyway.
