Okay, my tractor is missing the top link. I can buy a generic top link for $25 either on ebay or at the tractorsupply type places.

I thought it would be nice to have a gray top link to match everything and just checked online for a Kubota top link (Part no 35080-71100) and it is $183.32!

Why would it be so expensive? I guess a generic top link and a can of Kubota gray spray paint is on the horizon for me.

Would there be any reason to pay over 7 times the price for a Kubota top link?

Thanks, Nathan

i don't quite understand this. There was a thread in the Deere forum about two weeks ago about theirs being over $400. I just don't understand. We sell a Case IH replacment link for $17.

I've seen old used John Deere toplinks go for $200+ on ebay. I always just thought that was because the green lovers were suckers. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I really would like to use the genuine Kubota toplink but just can't justify that price. There is no reason it should cost that much. You can buy a hydraulic toplink with the pilot check valve for only $185 from one of the board sponsors. I would do that and pay the $600 for the kubota remote before I bought the kubota toplink for $183. Of course then I would want 2 remotes and a tilt cylinder and I would be $1,500 into it instead of $183.32.

I think a can of spray paint is going to be the best option.

I took off my original equipment top link and put on a blue one because it was a little bigger. Would be glad to sell the grey colored one.

I think there is three weeks use on the original one.

It doesn't make any sense but most all manufacturers are like that.

Never figured the originals were that much better than the cheaper ones.

Im not sure why the prices are so far off. Here in this part of NH we had a Ford/kubota dealer who had reasonable price. Then they were "bought" out. Now when I go there I get to walk over nice carpet, and all but a chandelier hanging in the showroom. The parts are now jacked up. Its all about overhead.
They cater to a different type of person now.I was going to trade mine in, and they talked, and were supposed to get back to me. A few emails and calls to them and no reply.Guess they dont need my business anymore. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Fine with me, there another older place down the street to go to.

I don’t think I could pay that for a top link. When mine gave up I bought one from TSC for something around $20. I did have to hit one end with a grinder to narrow it down enough to fit on the tractor end, no big deal. Actually I like it better than the original because the treaded section is larger and easier to turn.

After I bent the OEM top link on my BX and found the replacement was over $70, I too bought a "generic" $20 top link from the big-box.

The only down side is that the replacement would not fit into the nice hanger on the back. Oh, well...

Correct, but then a 12oz spray can of Kubota gray only cost $12.50 last time I bought it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

My OEM top link is sitting in the basement collecting dust. I needed a longer top link for the brush cutter, so I bought one from Tractor Supply for around $30. I like it a lot better than the factory top link. Larger threads, so it turns easier. And looks like it is built a good deal heavier than OEM.

Get the least expensive one and who cares what color it is. A nice BRIGHT color might just look good on it..............and you might not forget it somewhere

LOL...ROTFLMAO!! I see im not the only one to scream when I priced a new toplink for my B3030. I had bent the rod end shank ( I know..I know...lol). I call and the guy tells me $212 and it cant be removed..??...to replace the rod end..( LMAO) I told him..Yeah..RIGHT!! ( some dude in Japan put it together..Im ****** sure I can get it apart!!) I didnt even have to do that. Took it to my farm buddy an he straightened the threaded end for me..and it works fine.

! bought a spare "Hong Kongs Best" for $19.95 and its every bit as good..

Seems liek a lot of tracter guys have MANY toplinks..? Adjust for a particular impliment and then leave it WITH that impliment..so the more impliments..the more toplinks...BUT...after the first time...no time spent in adjusting any of them. I plan to pick up another from TSC ( looks like the same identical spare I already have) jjust to have around

If anyone has a BX and is looking for replacement top link this thread will help. The top link for a BX is $115.44 from Kubota. The one below was $20 and works as good or better then the $115 version!

Well a nice guy on the site is selling me his toplink for $40 including shipping. He said he switched his out for a larger one years ago and it has been just sitting collecting dust for several years now.

At least I'm not paying too much of a premium for it being gray that way. I kind of like the idea of having a toplink set for different pieces of equipment though.

I still don't understand why the OEM toplinks are so much more expensive. Most of the other parts don't seem that far out of line but I guess maybe they are.
