Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

I heard a local blue tractor dealer tell me that Kubota's were throw away tractors last week. I had just about made my decision to buy the BX 22 and was greatly disturbed after hearing this. I spoke with the local equipment rental place who told me that their B21 was the most reliable unit they had and totally disagreed. The blue guy based his comments on the premise that parts were hard to get on Kubota's and he could not repair major problems. I need some reassurance before I drop major coin here. I have never driven a tractor and know next to nothing except what I have read here. Thanks in advance.

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

I don't own a Kubota, but I've seen a lot of them in service in my area and some of them have been around a long time. I cannot comment on parts availability, but I've never seen a problem with parts listed in any of the forums.

The one thing I do know for sure--STAY AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN FROM THAT "BLUE" SALESMAN. Blanket statements about brands come from ignorant people and if he's ignorant about the competition, he probably doesn't know much more about his line and I doubt he would have your best interests in mind.

If you look around and like the Kubota best, put together a list of projects you plan to do or your basic needs for a tractor. You will get a lot of suggestions on the size of the tractor that would best fit your needs.

It's been said many times before, but I'll say it again. Make sure you are very comfortable with your dealer--no matter what color you buy.

Good Luck

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

Strong,

I drive a blue tractor. But for that blue dealer to say Kubota is a throw away tractor only showed his professionalism. Just not much there. When looking I actually looked at Kubota and then Deeere first. But there was one thing I didn't like about the Kubota or the John Deere and that was the salesmen. They both turned me off. And I ended up buying New Holland.

The kubota tractor is just as good as any other tractor out there. They all have their little quirks and repairs. They all have their benefits. But I won't buy from a sales person that can't talk about their benefits without dogging the others. I would go with the dealer that you are most comfortable with.

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

Do you understand the meaning of gullible? I don't think Kubotas are hard to find parts for, that is the old legend--"hey sonny that Toyoter is going to be hard to get parts for"--the ol'goat was driving an AMC?Rambler that told me that in 1971. Since NH is owned by Fiat you might consider how diffucult it can be to buy parts for Fiat automobiles. Fix it ah'gin ah Tony.
I got an idea, buy the blue unit and hope for the best. When it breaks and you cannot get parts you can trade it on a throw away Kuobta. J

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

I have a 1978 Kubota B6100. It is still running fine. Any parts I have needed for my 25 year old tractor have either been in-stock at the dealer or delivered within a week.

"Throw away"?? - I don't think so... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

Strong, Bob and Tres,

It all comes down to a salesperson that is imature and unprofessional. We find them in all makes and trades. It is a good thing that most of them sales type people don't make it.

Strong, it is easy to get parts for New Holland, but if I were a betting man it is just as easy to get them for Kubuta. I think what you will find is that everyone here is very strong on the opinion that your dealer is the most important decision you have to make on your tractor. If you like the Kubota and you are comfortable with the dealer, then go for it and the heck with the others. My case I felt great about my dealer and just happened to have New Holland. If he had Kubota, that is what would be in my yard.

When you get your Kubota home it is a must to post pictures.

Good luck

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

Unless the dealer is referring to a "grey-market" Kubota, there is no merit to his statement. I think parts for the grey-market tractors can even be had, just not as readily as for machines intended for the US market. As TresCrows points out, NH, Deere, and Cub Cadet all import their smaller CUTs. It will be no more difficult to get parts for a Kubota than any other brand. It sounds like the NH dealer was afraid of not being able to make a sale, so why not scare the buyer about the competition? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif If you want to look at NH equipment, I would suggest finding a different dealer.

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

I'll get in trouble now, but, I don't think that there is that much different in the green, orange, blue you have to be comfortable with the tractor(all have their own good and bad points for comfort and use) what is a good thing for one of use is useless for another, and be comforable with the dealer couse thats who your going back to for service and all the thing you want later. For someone to say orange, blue or green is a through away is'nt the kind of salesman that I would deal with. When I bought orange I shopped around and talked to a green dealer he said at the time they didn't have anything to compete with the bx2200 just larger than I wanted. He called the orange dealer down the street and told the guy what I wanted, and who I should talk to. If I was looking for a green anything right now I would go back to that dealer because of the way the sales man treated me he might not have made the sale that day but he probably will in the future.
When I bought my bx I drove it first and was introduced to the service and parts people. I was not treated as just a sale. If your still unsure talk to the service and parts people to get feed back from that dealer, if they are like the saleman buy a diiferent color or from a different dealer. .02

Cheers
Tony

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

Thanks all. One common thread here is trust in the dealer. Regretably for me there is only one dealer for Kubota here in the valley that does so only as a sideline to their larger snowmobile business. The largest dealer is a Deere outfit that used to sell Kubota but discontinued them. I have had the best experience talking to the Deere people but really like what the Kubota offers and what I have heard here. The next closest Kubota dealer is in Anchorage (50 miles away). Given this situation would I be better off going with a dealer I like but a tractor not my first choice ( subjective I know ).
