Kubota Super UDT2 replacement

Get my motor oil in 55's too. Takes a while to use one but no plastic jugs for a landfill and when a drum is empty I call my jobber and they bring another and take the old one (that has my drain oil in it) back.

Paid an initial drum deposit years ago. Now it's bring one and take one, same with my hydraulic fluid. The grease drums are not returnable.

Nice thing about the bring one take one is no worry about used oil disposal at all. I presume they recycle it and resell it but I have no idea. As a rule, oil never goes (bad), it gets filled with combustion deposits and the additive package gets used up. Same with hydraulic fluid bit in that case, the additive package gets depleted because there are no combustion deposits.

I used to burn my used oil in a waste oil furnace but that was a PITA too.

I recommend SUDT2 for Kubotas with HST, GST and hydraulic shuttle transmissions. For straight gear drive tractors good ole UDT is just fine and a bit less expensive.

Don't know if I'd agree with your comment about hydraulic shuttle transmissions. Both my M9's are hydraulic shuttle (I won't have anything else) and over thousands of hours, I've never had issue one with Chevron. In fact the Chevrom flows better at below freezing temps than the Kubota fluid. That is a seat of the pants view from me. My buddy has my old (and sold) M105 with Kubota fluid in it and my loader operation in sub freezing temps is decidedly smoother than his is and shuttle clutch pack engagement is more progressive as well.

Those are my recommendations which mirror Those of Kubota. As this is an oil discussion, opinions will vary. Doubtless there are many out there that use oils other than SUDT in all transmission types.
I do not get excited about that and really care very little what any individual does.

The hydraulic shuttle clutch pack as well as the PTO clutch pack on all (as equipped) Kubota tractors are far different than the swash plate, linear piston actuated HST drives so I can see using Kubota fluid in them but in the simple, multi plate wet packs, not so much. In fact any ISO rated fluid will work.

Advising the use of plain ISO rated hydraulic oils for multiple disc wet clutch and wet brake applications is exceedingly bad advise and should be ignored.

That guidance goes well beyond the typical oil brand promotion present in any oil related thread and can lead directly to poor performance and part failures.

Here we go yet again. I said ISO rated. Maybe I should have clarified that to be... ISO rated for the particular intended application. Guess if a person is incapable of ascertaining that, they belong asking inane questions on this forum...
