I have a Kubota BX2752 drive shaft from a snow blower that I bought. Looking to swap this for the longer BX2753 part. These are used in the BX2751 quick hitch for both the BX2750 series and BX5450 series snow blowers. Different models of Kubota BX tractors use one or the other. The rest of the parts in the quick hitch along with the main 50" long drive shaft remain the same when you swap these.

Details for each drive shaft:
From BX2752 Kit (What I have)
Length: 11 1/2" Long
Kubota part number: 70001-00772
Used on Tractor models: BX22, BX23, BX1500, BX1800, BX2200, BX1850, BX1860, BX1870

From BX2753 Kit (What I need)
Length: 14 7/8" Long
Kubota part number: 70060-02728
Used on Tractor models: BX24, BX25, BX25D and BX2350, BX2360, BX2660, BX2370, BX2670

The shaft in question is #3 in the below diagram. Shaft location is the same in the quick hitch for either version. The only difference is the length of the shaft.

If you have one of the longer ones that you wish to trade or sell, please let me know. I have the shorter version in perfect condition. Thanks!

If you are reading this, I am still looking for the swap. I will edit this if I find one or create another post saying that.

Any reason that you can’t just buy the shaft that you require?

I figure if two of us have $180 chunks of metal that neither of use can use it might be a good idea to swap them at a cost of $10 to $20 shipping so that both of us end up with snow blowers that we can use. Total cost outlay $20 to $40 versus $360 between two people. I thought that would make sense. I have found almost everyone very helpful on these forums. So Robin....do you have one you want to exchange? Otherwise why post like that since it really lends nothing to this topic.

I have seen these exact swaps done multiple times on here successfully. It's literally the only piece of metal in the entire configuration that needs to be changed for different tractor models when buying used snow blowers.

Well, I was simply looking for an answer, thinking that the shaft in question might be obsolete. Now I see that for the sake of less than $200 you'll be shoveling your driveway by hand, seeing how no-one has offered anything since your original post back in July. Sorry for asking...

Interesting. Can you read my private messages? Didn't think so.

This is also the time of year that many people are buying used snow blowers in preparation for winter. In July most people do not look for snow blowers. It's a seasonal thing when it gets cold and snows.

You do get the troll award though. Have a great weekend!

Casual Observer:

I have a need for the same swap (5450 going from a BX1870 to a bx2370).

2 questions....

The parts list for the bx2752 reflects 2 bearings that are different from the 2 bearings on the bx2753...and as you mentioned the "shaft output" is also different.
BUT, in looking at my 2752 the bearings do NOT look like the Parts diagram, they look like the bearings on the 2753 parts diagram. Perhaps Kubota changed the bearings in the 2752 to be the same as the 2753....?

The "shaft output" that we both need to replace with the longer shaft - does the shaft just pull out in order to be swapped? and then just push in the new shaft?

Thanks in advance...

The frame that the bearing mounts into is is all the same part. Seems they revised the bearing style to an all in one solid block versus two metal flanges holding a bearing between them. I have swapped to the newer style all in one in the past without issues. I could not see how changing the bearing would affect anything else since the piece they mount into and the shaft they mount onto is always the same. Frankly when you replace the shaft you have to open the set screws on the bearings which hold the shaft. If memory serves each bearing has one or two set screws in it. Even after releasing the set screws there is usually enough rust / resistance that you will have to bang out the shaft. The one I did would not release easily with penetrant etc. Because of that I would always plan on replacing both bearings when a shaft is swapped. If the shaft has any surface rust the bearing will bind on that also as you try to slide it out.

So basically if you release the set screws, use penetrant and the shaft just slides out easily - count yourself lucky. Otherwise plan on replacing the bearings to be safe. Last time I bought them I believe they were around $15 each so it wasn't that much.

Excellent info - thank-you

good luck with your swap....if you get responses from 2 people let me know. I am looking to do the same swap, for the same reasons as you...2 parties can save some $$$

Had one response from a person in Canada so far, but the shipping costs made it prohibitive - much more expensive than USA shipping.
