In 1999 I paid 18k for my 4310, and yesterday I sold it for 14k.

Now where else can you rent a new tractor for about $500.00 a year.

So for all you guys that need to convince your wife, that you need a new tractor, and need to explain you can always get your money out of it, I'm living proof.

Now that I sold it, I've got the green light from the dear wife to go shopping. She now is a believer that buying a tractor is not throwing your money away.
If you are married to a woman that utters the words, go buy yourself a new tractor dear, hang on to her, I know I am.

Just don't let them know that the 18k in the bank would have earned over 7k - 9K in interest.

I purchased a b7500 hsd in 2000, 6 years and 700 + hours i traded it in for my B3030, dealer gave me $8000. I could have got $10000. if i sold it private but i did not want the hassel. I did sell the plow blade and front snowblower/subframe private, All in all, i did well, i got into a top of the line, factory cab machine with no cash down. Im very pleased with kubota resale values!

If that is true then why do some of the brand forums have people reporting that their dealers won't even take the tractors they sell as trade-ins? I think it is reasonable to suggest that some brands hold their values better than others. . . no different than cars. With cars, some brands hold value and others do not.

Out of all the things I have ever sold, I got more calls on the Kubota than anything. On the first day I think I got 15 calls, with two buyers,one buyer, and a backup buyer, and the phone never did stop ringing till the ad ran out.

No better feeling than having your old stuff sold and dreaming about the next new tractor. With a clean slate, I can now dream.
I think your second or third tractor id your best tractor, because you find out what you really need and want - more or less horse power, more or less lift, cab no cab etc.
I selected the 4310 from advice here in 1999. At the time McCalky who was a consummate Kubota aficionado was giving the 4310 high marks, so I just figured if a guy like him spend enless hours of research and selected the 4310 , then good enough for me. It served me well, and it looks like McCaulky went with a skid steer style for greater lift etc. For me, who know, I want and need a cab, but Kubota says no Cab and backhoe. Sure I can put one on, but don't need the hassle with warranty if I do go with the backhoe against their advice.

Been Looking at Kubota 5240, ( I can get it now, price is right, 0% is great ) the new New Holland 60HP T2420 ( not available till fall, may not have a cab and no HST, but beefier than current models), and the ASV track skid steer RC 85 ( a Swiss army knife of tractores - expensive all all get out).

I can use anyone $02 cents if you can steer me in the right direction.

Actually, I leave it all to my investment counselor. If you can believe this he has had some mutual funds coem in at 16%., most between 8-9%

Yep my guy's been good to me.

Although he and my wife did talk me out of Google at $60.00, closed Fri. $471.12. I will NEVER EVER let them forget that one. That 18k would have brought me 141K.

Here is a quick list,I did a search on. Some at 24% for the year others at 16.24 for five years.

IN GENERAL Compact tractors hold their value.
We can delve into umpteen different scenarios from different brands.
Can also get into what "holding there value" means etc.
BUT IN GENERAL Compact tractors hold their value.
Sometimes those dealers won't take them in trade just because they don't have the cash to purchase them.
Selling outright will typically get you better return than trade-in.
If dealers had plenty of cash I'm sure they'd take every trade in......
Typically you can make more on a trade in resale than a new tractor sale.
But the cash is harder to get for the dealer.

I have a Woods bh on my Kubota cab and have had no problems with warranty issues whatsoever. In fact, my dealer suggested going this route. The 4 point subframe from Woods works great and goes on and off fairly easy.

That was my problem, I took it to a Kubota dealer for trade, and he didn't want it. He said they have a hard time selling tractors over 10k, under 10k they sell all day long.

He was the one that said he would take it in on a trade at 14k, when he said that I almost started laughing knowing I paid 18k in 99. I don't get, don't you wish all things held their value like tractors.

I can testify to the fact that Kubota holds their value. In mid 2003 I paid $15,900 for a Kubota B7800 with a 60" landscape rake. Two weeks ago I sold the entire setup for $14,700. That is $300 dollars of depreciation per year. The guy who bought it said he didn't want some used "orphan" from a dealer. The tractor was beyond mint...I washed and waxed it 3x a year so it looked better than new. I will reinvest that money into a brand new L3130 that I pick up on Saturday.

Do you mean a front end loader or a backhoe??? I really have no idea why Kubota would make a cab tractor and then not have a BH to put on it Although I prefer the Woods BH over the Kubota models anyway.

If your tires are relatively new, buy some Ultraseal from Gempler's. It's expensive stuff, but well worth it whenever I'm running over Hawthorn and Black Locust limbs.
