Kubota power steering

I am in the process of adding power steering to my Kubota L185
I am using '65 Mustang parts. Instead of installing a separate
pump I plan to use the tractor hydraulic system.
Has anyone else tried this? thanks, JackF

One reason for a separate pump in steering hydraulics is
the main tractor hydraulic system being open center. This
complicates articulating the steering cylinder and other
equipment cylinders at the same time. Even if the tractor
system is closed center you will still be sharing pump flow
between the steering cylinder and others in the system when
operated simultaneously.

As a steering cylinder typically does not need much flow volume
it may be easier adding a separate small pump -- particularly
when faced with the potential of upgrading the existing
tractor hydraulics to power beyond valves.

Not that it makes it right for your situartion, but my L3830 uses the same hydraulic system for the PS as everything else. On the other hand, uhmgawa may be correct in that your hydraulic pump may not pump enough volume to handle the PS too.
Perhaps you can find out the volume of that pump and it will help you decide whether to go with a separate PS pump.
