Ford: '88 3910 Series II, '80 3600, '65 3000; '07 6530C Branson with FEL, 2020 LS MT225S. Case-IH 395 and 895 with cab. All Diesels
Saw a 2002, 2wd, rear remotes, cab, 2000 hrs with loader, M6800. Never had a Kubota and have heard that parts are pricy. Thinking about purchasing from owner. Owner says AC and heater in cab work great. Looks to be in good shape with a couple of pictures. No other comments. Should I be leery?

No more leary than with any other used tractor purchase. Kubota makes quality machinery, but any brand can be subjected to abuse or poor maintenance.

Not having 4x4 would be really tough for me. Not saying it would not work, but been around a lot of 2x4 tractors and backhoe and they seemed to get stuck or just useless on any slimy, muddy, hill or wet grass. Very frustrating. Would never go that route again. But that's just me, but I live in NH, so terrain is much different then Texas. But you do have mud.

Mark, what will you be using it for? Flat, dry terrain is fine with 2WD. Is it a hydraulic shuttle?
My experience with Kubota has been mixed good/bad.

My experience has been that if you use a Kubota M series at its max ability, it will wear out fast. Obviously, so will any tractor brand, but Kubotas are on the lighter side for their HP rating. I ran my M126X and M135X reasonably hard and they did not hold up as well as I expected. I had PTO issues and steering issues to name a few.

Parts aren’t that bad, but injectors were very expensive.

I have both. Anything in the future will be 4wd

2wd is deal breaker for me.

Buy NH if you want pricey parts and wait times

Thanks for the thoughtful replies. I don't like the 2wd either. I have 2 4wd tractors and the extra axle pulling has helped me enough times to know that it is desired. I was thinking about this as the power source for my JD 375 4x6 baler primarily but the asking price is pretty high just to offset having to deal with a heavy and cumbersome PTO shaft on the baler.

I hear ya on that!
It’s every farmers desire to have one tractor per attachment lol
Since it’s primarily pulling a baler, it would probably only be getting used in dry conditions, so 2WD would be ok, unless you have steep hills.

I need 4WD because of hills and some soft areas.

I don’t know the asking price, but I get you 100% on heavy PTO shafts. The ones on my square baler & CX-15 are class 6 and heavy !
