Okay, so I got the seller of a 1997 Kubota B7300 down to $7900.00. Comes with FEL, 4WD, Hydro, Mid/Rear PTO, 16HP (686 Hrs). Now, it does not have PowerSteering.

But, there is a 1993 B2150, 24HP, 4WD with FEL that has power Steering, twice the number of hours, but no Hydro.

Should I trade up and get more HP and Power Steering or stick with the one that is Hydro. Hydro is soooo much easier to drive. Any feedback?

You will regret a having a tractor with a FEL ad no power steering.

Conversely, a gear doing a lot of FEL work, without a shuttle, is also a bit awkward. Neither situation is ideal. FEL work appreciates both the HST and power steering. It is a very tough call on either of those machines.

I'm guessing here, but it sounds as if the predetermined budget is around $8000?

A late model BX (2006-2009) would have equal or greater hp and have HST and Power Steering and can be snagged in that price range, easily. Likely have less than 200 hours as well. Just something to put into the decision making process.

Thank you. Yes it is. With the one I am getting Power Steering and 8 more HP. With the other I have No Power Steering, 8 Less HP, but Hydrostat. I really really like the HST.

I can see where you can add PS Kits later if you absolutely have too. ARGHH. Decisions!

Seriously, I'd go with the power steering over the HST if nothing else is available. AFAIK, B2150 doesn't have shuttle shift, so it's a tough call. Could get cumbersome while doing loader work, but not impossible, by any means.

Not to compare apple to oranges, but I have power steering w/ shuttle shift on my 1510, and while it's not as ideal as hydrostatic, it's very livable. Even so, the earlier Ford power steering is a bit on the weak side, so I have times when I have to really wrench on the wheel if I'm turning sharply at low RPMs. :eek:

The point is, I can't imagine loader work without PS at all, and I'd think that Kubota has a stronger system in place than my Ford has. Anyone else? :confused:

Just one man's opinion, but doing a lot of loader work with either of those tractors will be far from ideal. If I were a betting man, you'd soon be selling them and getting what you really need/want within a year.

Consider skipping the "in between step". FWIW But if you must......

Again, a BX is money in the bank, re-sale wise. Then, keep your eyes pealed for that "B" you really want, with both PS and HST.

If I have learned anything over the years it is NEVER SETTLE, you will just wind up buying twice.

I wouldn't pick either of them, however, if I HAD to choose between them I'd take the power steering over the HST any day. I really don't care anything about HST, but power steering is a must in my book, especially with a loader.

Thanks GaryCrowell and all. Why you say you wouldn't pick either? Brand Preference or reliability? Kubota's are all I can seem to find in my price range and for the application. I see a ton of Jinma's etc for way less even brand new but have heard that Orange is pretty reliable.
