Tractor
Case 430
I currently have a 2wd MX4700, but I have found a 4wd MX4800 that I could possibly get. I'm new to Kubotas in general, and especially any tractor with the Regen on it. Would the MX4800 be be a better overall tractor even with the regen? I know the 4wd would be an upgrade. Both tractors have around 700 hours, and both have FEL. Is the regen really that troublesome, or has that been exaggerated? Thanks for any suggestions or input.

I don't have direct experience with Kubota's emissions systems, but I purposely bought a 2005 L5030 to avoid that ...

My experience with diesel emissions is with big over the road trucks, which the majority of or problems are emissions related, to be fair, we can go a year without a problem, and lots of tractor owners don't seem to have a problem with it, but others have had to open there wallet pretty far too!

One of the important things with the emissions controlled tractors, is you can't just put put around, they need to WORK, and build HEAT, and once the Regen starts, keep working it until it's done! Idling doesn't build enough heat!

For me to open my wallet to buy a tractor that's over 25 HP, it's gotta be 2007 or earlier, 2008 is the beginning of the transition to the various "tiers", 2013 is when they began with the standards mandated now ...

So ... I'd rather have a 2WD no emissions tractor, than a 4WD with emissions ...

Mines actually 4X4 and no computer, no emissions ... !

I have a 2018 MX5200 with regen. Been running it for 5 yrs now. Initially it regened about about every 50 hrs. Process required 2500 rpm operation for 5-10 minutes. I thought it was sort of a big deal until I learned that if I ran a higher rpm like 1500 for general operation and 2300+ for mowing it regened about once a yr (100 hrs)or less. and probably doing it unnoticed while I work. SO far so good I like it.

Thanks. I would mostly use it for bush hogging and tilling. Sometimes it would just be putting around. From your answer, the regen doesn't seem like it would be too much hassle as long as I tried to keep the rpm up.

Yes, just working it hard while it needs a Regen will help it, keeping it above an idle will too ...

Here is thread with a bunch of back and forth ... Post #50 is from a guy who's tractor just died while working, he comes back in a couple of posts and gives a report from the dealer, and costs ...

I have a MX5200 shuttle shift 4wd. Generally, it feels very stable and has good power, but I do not like the Regen because it sometimes calls for running at high rpm when I don't need high rpm at all. If you don't really need the 4wd, I'd keep the 4700.
